"What the hell are you talking about?"

Mark places his hands on top of my shoulders as he talks, almost willing me not to interrupt. It's amazing how much I can understand what he needs and wants now more than ever.

"You're part leprechaun," he begins, the lips curling down as I wince at the name. "Leprechauns have the gift of mind manipulation. It's used to stop humans from being able to rediscover where their treasures are buried. If your powers have been fully activated now, you will be able to help that human forget what he's seen."

There's a fresh scream of terror from the bedroom, but I ignore it. My eyes are staring directly into the softer brown. Then they move downwards to the slightly puffed lips, and the strong jawline. The muscular chest...

"Are you...staring at my ass?"

Oh my god, Jack. Fucking focus!

A slight smile appears on the pouting lips, and he shuffles his feet, blushing. I try to play it cool but it's hard to look smooth and put together when you're practically drooling over your boyfriend's outstanding v line. He should pull up his pants, for fuck's sake. Or pull them off all the way.

Oh my god, Jack. Fucking focus!

"Sorry," I snap, shaking my head to get rid of the invading thoughts of banging him into the mattress again. "Your body is sexy and evil. Sexil? Yeah, you're so hot that I made up a new word."

"Sexil? I like that," he slurs as he presses me up against the hallway wall. "You know, we can always just leave the human locked up in there for a while."

He traps my hands over my head with his own strong fingers and squeezes my wrists just enough to make me moan. The lingering look he's giving my lips is intoxicating to my heart. Maybe just a little time alone is just what Ethan needs to calm down.

There's another blood curdling shreik.

"Oh baby," Mark mutters leaning in even farther. "I haven't even touched you yet and you're already throwing your voice like some sort of slutty - "

"That screaming isn't me!"

He pulls away, face confused once more, his right hand on his hip and the left hand scratching his own head. I need to work on the sounds I make during sex. As soon as possible it seems. Within a few minutes I have his hand in mine and pulling him towards the living room. I doubt that Ethan will be going anywhere.

"Where are we going, my love?"

"Someplace where I have access to cold water to splash on myself so I don't get lost in whatever that love fog you create. You said that I can help Ethan, so you're going to help me help Ethan. And removing his head from his shoulders isn't helping him, Mark."

The grumbling pout has returned with a vengeance, and the brown eyes are completely scarlet by the time we get to the kitchen. I pour myself a cup of cold water and finish it in just a few gulps while Mark is rummaging around a bookcase in the living room.

"Here it is," he says, sounding incredibly relieved. "The Magical Arts of the Lucky Leprechaun. It's only on basic focus training, but it will at least give you a better idea of your gifts."

I blink at him, trying to wrap my head around him keeping a book like that out where anyone could find it and ask questions.

"Don't you think you should have these kind of things hidden away?"

He chuckles as he hands me the book, and then heads towards the kitchen himself.

"I'm a playboy. People just naturally assume that any literature is here for show to make me look smarter for magazine articles. Besides, even if they did see what the books were about, I'm rich. It would be just chalked up to me being eccentric."

I never thought about it like that, but yeah, that made perfect sense.

The book is incredibly thick, heavy and full of terms that I can't even begin to understand. More than ever I wished that I had paid more attention to my Gaelic lessons. There is no way that I'll be able to figure out what the hell to do to erase Ethan's memory at this rate.

"Can I use Madie for something like this?"

Mark chuckles again as he sits next to me on the couch. He takes a long sip from a glass and flips the book back to the chapter index.

"Madie can only provide information about magical properties. She isn't able to teach you how to use your gifts. That is up to you to know, or to figure out."

I sigh much louder than I meant, and the dark eyes next to me soften. The strong arms wrap around my shoulders, and the scent of sandalwood invades my nose. I can hear his heartbeat in my ear as I rest my head against his broad chest.

"I hate to see you so upset, my love. I'm sorry that I can't control my temper more."

"It's all right," I mutter back, sliding my hand on top of his and interlacing our fingers together. "Guess this is just one of the hurdles of being in a demonic relationship, huh?"

He laughs loudly and presses his lips to my cheek.

"Only Incubi are demons, my love. Leprechauns are technically fairies."

I'm part fairy? Great. Just fucking great.
