Mark is looking at me, his dark brown eyes still looking frightened. It was almost comical at how the fear in the room had shifted. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest as I try to wrap my head around what had just happened. My bones feel like they are on fire, and my hands are curling up into fists of their own accord.

With a trembling hand Mark picks up the thing that looks like a gold pocket watch and points it at me like some odd type of weapon.

"Stand perfectly still," he says, his tone full of warning. "I don't want to hurt you Jack, but I will if I have no other choice."

"What the fuck is that thing?"

"It's a magic detector," he replies, trying to keep his voice calm. "It senses magical abilities in the air around us. It will only take a few moments to figure out what I'm dealing with, but like I said, you need to remain still."

At this point is is clear that Mark is out of his fucking mind. A magic detector? What kind of craziness is this? I need to get the hell out of here, but there is no way that I can race to the door now without Mark being about to grab me. The gold pocket watch begins to vibrate in his large hand and there is a sound of mechanical hums and chirps. Then silence before the device begins to talk in a low robotic voice.

"Analysis complete," the device chimes, almost politely. "Would you like the results of all of the magical  abilities in the room, or just of the newly accessed data?"

"New data only," Mark responds, his eyes still on me.

"Understood," the device replies again. "The magical abilities of the new entity is as follows. Soul reading, magical sensory perception, recuperation acceleration and defensive shielding powers."

I glance up at Mark, completely baffled as to what all of this means. His face turns from fear to curious concern now, and he gets up from the bed slowly and closes the door to the bedroom. I groan inside, knowing that at this point I was trapped again.

"Levels of all abilities," he says to the device, and it buzzes again.

"From greatest to least?"

"Yes," he answers, "with number values."

"Understood," the devices replies. "Analyzing now."

I move to take a seat in the chair that I am near. I expect Mark to have an issue with it, but he doesn't say anything. His mind seems completely focused on the device in his hand, and making sure that I don't leave the room.

"Analysis completed. Results are as followed. Soul reading is level 9. Defensive shielding powers is level 8. Magical sensory perception and recuperation acceleration are both at level 6 with fluctuations dependent on situations. May I assist you further?"

Mark sighs as he moves slightly closer to me, and there is a slight shift in his eyes. It may have been the light that causes them to suddenly turn from brown to red for just the quickest of moments. I can feel that same burning sensation as my bones ache as if they are on fire. It's as if my body is bracing itself for something.

"Danger level of the other entity?" he asks, the voice also seeming to brace for something.

"I am sorry, but I am not able to provide a clear answer to your question. The other entity is not a true form like yourself, and is in a defensive state of mind. You will either need to relax the other entity or force it to show you the form within it."

Mark swears under his breath, and places the device on the foot of the bed. He then turns to me, and there is clearly sorrow in the face now Mark takes another couple of steps. There is no where for me to run, and I am trapped on the other side of the room. My mind is a flurry of questions as to what the fuck is going on.

"Mark, what are going to do to me," I asks as I feel my pulsing bones burn white hot. My vision feels blurred from the pain as he continues to take small steps towards me.

"I'm sorry Jack," he mutters, and I can feel somehow, that he truly does mean the apology. "But there is no choice in this. I have to protect what I am, and I need to know what you are. Before I attack you, please if you can, just tell me what you are?"

I can't understand what is happening at all, and I can sense tears in the corners of my eyes from the burning pain inside of me. It hurt so much, but I don't know what to say. I have no idea in the world what Mark is talking about.

"I'm your personal assistant, for fuck's sake," I snap, the pain pushing whatever composure I had completely away. "What the hell do you think that I am?"

Mark's eyes turn blood red as crimson wings erupt from his back and I can feel myself scream before I hit the ground. Small black horns push out from his skull and he raises his hands above his head. There is a flash of the soft brown eyes as  a ball of black smoke appears in between his fingers, and he seems to be aiming whatever this weapon was at me.

"I don't know what you are Jack, but I'm about to make you tell me. Whether you want to or not."
