A cold gust of wind hit us when we opened the giant purple door. Long, dark trees stripped of their leaves stood tall, acting as a wall. Snow dusted the ground, except for a shoveled pathway. When the group stepped out the door shut with a mighty force. Patience was barely able to pull her arm away without it being snapped off. We gave each other worrying looks, but continued our journey home.
We followed the trail, taking cautious steps. We passed a branch, but when we turned our heads forward we heard a large snap. Kindness looked at his sister, who was the falling behind.
"Did you step on the stick?" He asked. With wide eyes, the little girl shook her head. Bravery offered to be the one at the back, but Kindness refused his offer and took his sister's place instead.
We continued walking, with chills going down their spines. We passed two trees standing closely together, but behind them a shadow appeared suddenly.
I was leading the group, because we had all silently decided that I would become the "leader." Of course-no one was controlling anyone- but someone had to make the call when everyone became stuck.
I looked behind me to make sure everyone was okay. Everyone seemed in contact-just scared. Except for Bravery, following close behind me, he looked more angry than worried.
I am discontinuing this book FOR NOW. I am feeling un-inspired and want to work on cheery, fun books for now. Sorry, but uh-I'll be back soon?
