~Katie's POV~
"Tell me about yourself." I say, grabbing my pink notebook and a purple pen. I do know the basic stuff about him. We were bestfriends when we were 5 until about sixth grade when he started hanging out with other guys instead.
"Okay. Well my hobbies are playing football and making videos, but my favorite thing to do is making people smile." He starts. I smile when he says that. I write that in my notebook.
"Um, I love to hang out with my friends and just kind of doing whatever. I'm not really a complicated person." He continues.
"What do you do in your free time?" I ask.
"Well it depends. Sometimes I just chill at home and watch a movie or I'll make a video or just hang out. Sometimes I'll prank people too. Oh and I like to go on walks with Burnie."
"The dog?"
"Hey! He doesn't like the 'd' word. His name is Burnie for a reason, so it's not dog. I think he deserves an apology." Matt says folding his arms.
"I don't think so." I say stubbornly, hidding the smile that's trying to creep on my face.
"Get out then." Matt looks towards the door. I pick up my stuff and walk to the door. I open it and close it, then sitting on the stairs.
I watch quietly as Matt runs to the door and opens it. He stands in the doorframe looking around to see where I went.
"Boo!" I jump up, putting my hands on his shoulders. He let's out a high pitched scream that belongs to a 10 year old girl and turns around. I laugh my butt off at his scream and he stands there trying to be mad.
"You- you know that was hilarious." I say catching my breathe and finally he laughs too.
We walk back into the kitchen and he pulls out a blue notebook and black pen.
"Tell me about yourself." Matt rests his pen at the top of his ear and waits for an answer.
"Okay. There's not much to say. I'm less than ordinary. I love the color blue and listen to music a lot. My hobbies are singing and playing guitar. I love hanging out with my bestfriend Brooke who is the most amazing person in the planet. There's also my boyfriend Kyle of course. See, nothing special." I say, letting out a sigh.
"Katie, you are not less than ordinary, you here me? You are unique and I want you to stay you forever." Matt says, the goffy look in his eyes turn serious and he's tapping his fingers on the counter. Did I say something wrong?
"It's okay to be ordinary, Matt. I'll be me forever, even if I really am not special."
"Stop saying that! You're anything, but unspecial. You're the only girl who hasn't gone totally crazy with makeup and the only girl that's been so easy for me to talk to. I can't take it! I'm not going to sit here and listen you talk bad about yourself!" Matt shouts at me. He takes a deep breath and so do I.
"Sorry for yelling, but it's true." He says quietly.
"It's okay. I get mad at myself too for thinking that. I don't blame you at all. Let's just get back to the project?" I say quietly. He nods and we both start writing. It's silent and awkward until his Mom walks through the door.
"Hi Matt!" She says dropping her purse on the counter. "Oh my gosh, Katie! I haven't seen you in so long! How are you?" She exlaims. "Wait... Are you two dating?"
Matt coughs and clears his throat. I giggle a little bit.
"No, Mom. We're working on homework." He says embarrassed. His cheeks get red and it's pretty cute. He bites his lip while looking down at his feet.
"Oh, sorry. It's so nice seeing you again." Mrs. Espinosa says giving me a hug.
"Nice seeing you too!" I exclaim. I look at my phone and it's 6:00. "I should get going." I put my notebook in my backpack. Matt walks to the door and I wave at his Mom.
"Bye Matt." I say shyly.
"Bye Katie. Thanks for a fun day! We should hang out again. " he suggests. " W-We can take more notes." I nod and he says, "How about Wednesday? I have football practice tomorrow."
"Sounds like a plan, Espinosa. Tell Burnie I said bye. Oh and I had fun too." I say before walking out the door and getting into my car.
Now, I have a reason to want to go to school tomorrow. That reason is Matt.
