Chapter 6

~Katie's POV~

I walk into the cafeteria for lunch and meet up with Brooke like we always do. We grab our lunch. Pizza, chips, an apple and water. We take a seat at an empty table, far away from where we used to sit, with Kyle and his friends.

"Hello ladies." Matt approaches us with a funny wink.

"Oh no, is this gonna be couple central?" Brooke rolls her eyes as we giggle. Matt sits next to me and gives me a smile. It's been two days since our date.

"Well isn't this cute?" I recognize the voice behind me all two well. Kyle. 

"What do you want?" Matt stands up. It's cute when he gets mad. He's pretty small compared to Kyle which I can't help but smile at.  My smile goes away when I see all of Kyle's friend and my ex cheer friends gather behind him and whisper.

** Flashback **

"Come on Katie, you have to stay for the party! We won! It's the last game of the year!" Angel, cheer captain encourages me. Yea, I was a cheerleader last year. I love cheer, but the people on my team was so self centered. 

"I have a big test tomorrow!" I complain.

"But Kyle is gonna be there! And I heard he thinks your hot." Angel protests. Of course they talked me into going and that's when Kyle asked me out. 

I didn't try out for cheer this year, so I could focus on school, and maybe one day I'll be on a competitive team, where Angel and the other popular girls aren't there.

Now that I think About it, Kyle and I stopped talking as much when I made that desicion.

** End of flashback **

"Sit down Matt." I tug at his arm and pull him back a bit. 

"Listen to your girlfriend before you get out of control." Kyle laughs. He has a devilish look in his eyes and I know he's planning something. Before anything else happens, the bell rings. 

As I'm walking through the hallway to my locker, every phone buzzes and everyone stares at me in disgust.

"Hey did you hear Katie cheated on Kyle with Matt?" I hear someone whisper. 

I walk faster.

There's my locker, only it has the word "cheater" on it.

How about "innocent"? I didn't do anything! I didn't cheat, I didn't lie, all I did was see the truth, be in pain, and find someone who cares about me.

At the end of the horrible never ending day, I meet Brooke by her locker.

"How are you?" She gives me a pitiful look. I don't even have to answer before she gives me a big hug.  

I remember when we were 8 and I fell off my razor scooter and twisted my ankle. Brooke ran up to my and gave me the same kind of hug. I knew my ankle would get better, but I don't know if everyone will ever forget this. Kyle isn't gonna drop it.

A tear slips down my eye, but I'm quick to wipe it.

"Look there's Matt." Brooke whispers. Matt walks over to us, looking upset. He let's out a heavy sigh before noticing how upset I am. He rubs my back. I let go of Brooke, giving her a smile and give Matt a hug. 

"I just want to be alone right now." I tell them. People are my biggest issue and I just don't want to be around anyone. 

I walk to my car and start driving. 

Just keep driving.
