kennedy

"wake the fuck up." zach says, pummeling me with a pillow, "rise and shine."

"shut the fuck up." i groan, rolling on to my side.

"get up, we're going to the lake today." zach replies, picking up the loose pillow and hitting me with it- again.

"fuck that." i mutter, facing towards him.

"it's our last lake visit of the summer, come on ken." he says, placing the pillow neatly under my headboard.

"are we staying?" i ask, referring to the fact that we had a cabin we would usually stay the night at.

"duh." he says, walking out of my room without shutting the door behind him.

a shower, endless amount of packing later and a shit ton of double checking later, i headed downstairs and to the garage, where zach should be getting things ready.

i walk across the house and to the garage, opening the side door to find ethan, grayson, zach, noah, and jade scrambling around. jade is a lesbian, fun fact, and we used to be closer but she decided to ditch school.

"hey jade" i greet her, stepping into the garage.

"hi kennedy." she smiles, lifting up a blue cooler and placing it into the back of zach's pickup.

"are you taking your car?" zach asks, standing opposite me, behind a couple of kayaks.

"yeah, why?" i reply, bending down to gather a few floaties.

"i'm taking mom and ethan and grayson aren't gonna fit in mine." he replies, picking up a kayak and placing it into the bed of his pickup.

"why can't i take mom?" i ask, walking over to him with floaties in hand.

"uh, she doesn't trust you." he laughs, strapping the kayak in.

"whatever" i sigh, "i'll take the floaties and the rest of the coolers, you taking the boat?" i ask, turning on my heel to walk back into the house.

"yup." he replies, picking up the next kayak.

"come with me." i motion towards ethan and grayson who stood towards the back of the garage. grayson glanced over at me with a smirk on his face and walked over, ethan trailing behind him. once i reach the stairs i turn around and face them.

"put your shit in my car, we're leaving in 10." i say, stepping onto the top stair. ethan nods and heads off immediately, but grayson stays a little longer, looking directly at me. grayson and i haven't talked for two days, he's done nothing but look at me and he always seems to be in my way. going to the bathroom? nope, graysons in that one. wanna go outside to the pool? never mind, graysons swimming. it's like he never goes home to his own family, ever.

"what do you want?" i scoff, looking back at him.

"nothing." he coughs awkwardly, walking off.

thinking nothing of it, i walk the rest of the way up the stairs and gather my bag, wallet and car keys.

when i walk back downstairs, ethan is sat at the couch, his bag in his lap, looking down at his phone in his hands.

"you ready?" i ask, turning the corner into the living room.

"yea" he nods, stuffing his phone in his pocket. we walk out to the driveway, placing our bags in the trunk of my car as grayson stands in the garage, 2 coolers stacked on top of each other in his hands, each of which weighed a good 50 pounds. the weight from the coolers caused his arms to bug out, his biceps looking like bowling balls. he walks over and places the coolers carefully in the trunk, grabbing his bag off the ground and placing it on top. he closes the trunk and looks at me, an eyebrow raised.
