Okay, so I never actually thought about this until yesterday.
So in a zombie apocalypse book/fan fiction, there's some cases where the main character doesn't know how to shoot a gun. Maybe they've relied on other people, or some other thing. Maybe a crossbow, or a normal bow.
But, either way, they don't know how to shoot. (Or they're a damn pro even if they've never shot before. But that's for another chapter.)
When the character learns how, why are they never surprised by the recoil?
I shot a gun for the first time yesterday, a 22 millimeter pistol I believe. And it had a recoil. Not that bad, it actually felt like somebody was trying to take it. But nobody writes about the kickback- its just a smooth shoot.
And the sound. Is it implied all people have sound proof guns? There aren't that many silencers to find and fit on all their guns.
