Confessing Is Hard

Connor sits at the table and eats the food Laura had made. The meat was incredible. Normally, he doesn't eat very much very quickly, but he had three tacos within a span of a half hour.

Ben was impressed. He thought trying to get Connor to eat would be harder than that, but it seemed Laura's cooking was just what he needed. Now the only thing left to do was try to get him to remember. Something he once again couldn't find a solution to.

Connor finally gets up when he was done and puts his stuff away.

"You like that?" He asks

Connor stops dead in his tracks, his mind gong straight to the gutter. "What." He asked.

"Laura's cooking." Ben said.

"It was okay."

"Okay? You ate three tacos in 30 minutes when you barely ate any of the subway we had for lunch."

Connor shrugs. "It is unfair to compare subway sandwich's to tacos." He said, walking to his room.

"Hey, wait." Ben said.

He looks up. "What."

"Well... were in Florida."

"I gathered that."

"And I was just thinking, maybe we could go to the beech or hit up an arcade-"

"An arcade? What are we, 12?"

"I like arcades. I'm really good at one of the games they have."

"Is it a ticket game?"

"Yeah."

"So they have prizes and shit?"

"Yes."

"........ LAURA!" Connor calls. "Laura! Come with us!"

After a few seconds of silence, you could hear movement from one of the rooms and she pops her head out. "What?"

"Come with us." Connor said again.

"Where?"

"We're going to an arcade." Connor said, making the executive decision.

Ben laughs. "Because were 12."

"I didn't say that."

"How come prizes made you change your mind?" Ben asked.

"Because arcades that just have games for nothing are stupid. I don't care about leaderboards or high scores, I want my efforts to pay out in something I can actually take home and mess with." Connor said.

"That was a very 'Mike' thing you said." Laura giggles.

"I'm sure everyone thinks the same. I'm just the fucker who has decided to say it." Connor said.

"Arcades are full of people though, are you sure you want to deal with that?" Ben asked.

"... if... if you stay near me... I'll be fine." He said. "I just... I need to deal with... this."

Laura nodded. "Good idea, buddy." She said.

Ben grabs his keys to the rental and the three set off.

In the arcade, Ben shows Conner the game he plays that he can win a lot of tickets on. "This is galactix. Super easy. All you gotta do is swipe your card at the right time to launch a missile into the mothership and you win 50 tickets."

"50? That's barely enough to win a fucking finger light."

"This machine only takes one nickel a swipe. We have $20." Ben said.
