Then you opened your eyes. You tried to comprehend what you were seeing. Eyes. Closed eyes, and a forehead pressed to yours. The Doctor's. Your face heated before you could figure it out, and then The Doctor's eyes opened. He leaned back, and your forehead felt cold while the rest of your face remained the same temperature. He took a moment to collect himself, and you noticed for the first time, that the Doctor had his hands on either side of your very warm face. You steeled yourself as his eyes flicked up into yours. From this distance- even though he hadn't leaned back very far- you could see the color of his eyes in a way you hadn't noticed before. They were beautiful. Beautiful and indescribable. The color itself was hard to distinguish, but it was mostly reminiscent of the green of a foggy forest- enchanting and haunting in the same way. There was wonder swimming in them, masking a sort of... something you couldn't place. It was the same thing you sometimes saw in the eyes of older people. Maybe it was wisdom, or knowledge, or weariness, or a combination of them all. How old was the Doctor?

"(Y/n)." He brought you from your trance. His expression was hard to read.

"Hey." You didn't know what else to say.

"Hey," He drawled out slowly. He was being careful, you could tell that much. "(Y/n), what was that?"

"What was what?"

"Well, you were..." He stammered. "You were... " He seemed to become modest all of the sudden.

"What was what, Doctor?" He slid off the bed and began to pace nervously. You stretched your legs out and walked over to him. Without thinking, you grabbed his arm, and he turned on you in mild alarm. "Tell me."

"What- what did you dream about?" As soon as he asked, it all came flooding back in- literally. You suddenly had the feeling of drowning all over again. Your lungs refused to give you oxygen, your limbs turned stiff and gave in, and you would've fallen to the ground, had the Doctor not been so close to you. He caught you and sat you down in his lap to stop your body from convulsing as you tried to breathe. "(Y/n)! (Y/n), it's okay. It's alright, I'm right here. You're not in the water anymore. You're here, safe in the TARDIS. Nothing can harm you."

You finally started to realize that you were on land a few seconds later when you were able to focus, there in the Doctor's surprisingly secure embrace. You were still out of breath, but  at least your lungs would function properly. When you were able to continue some sort of thought process, you looked at the Doctor. His foggy forest eyes helped ground you a little more. He was looking at you as patiently as he could but his eyes were expectant.

"What...was...that." He spoke slowly and softly either because of how close you were, or the state you were in a moment ago. You looked away. You then realized you were still in his lap and moved away. He rose with you, still waiting for an answer.

"Wait." You thought back to what he said to try to calm you down. "You saw my dream." It was more like a question. He looked sheepish suddenly as he searched for a proper answer.

"You were dream screaming. What was I supposed to do?"

"Firstly, what is 'Dream Screaming'? Secondly, what did you do?" He'd said it with such determination like whatever he did was the only thing he could have done.

"Firstly, well, you know, you were dream screaming." When you didn't respond, he explained further. "Dream screaming, sort of like dream talking, or dream walking? Just... Screaming."

"Okay." You tried to process the information. Once he was sure you understood, he moved on.

"Secondly, I had to... I heard you scream, and I didn't really want to, but then you said that thing about me not coming for your calls, and I thought, well, this didn't seem like a regular dream, and then you cursed the planet Ionat. That was really a red flag for me. I mean, you don't even know what the first three planets from your sun are."
