Remmi and I waited for 10 minutes before the girls got to the car.

"Must have been a long line at the bathroom." I joked when Kamryn finally got in the car after putting Kaylee in her seat.

"Oh hush, men are so impatient!" She rolled her eyes but turned around to the kids nonetheless. "Good job Remmi, you did really good!" She complemented him making me smile.

That smile quickly fell when I heard Remington's reply.

"Thanks mom."

"Thanks mom." I snapped my head to Niall to see he wasn't looking at me but squeezing the steering wheel hard enough to drain the pigment of his skin.

The car ride was silent for the rest of our trip home.

We finally arrived at Niall's apartment complex 10 agonizing minutes later.

"I got Remmi." Niall looked at me and I nodded making my way to a sleeping Kaylee.

I cuddled Kaylee while Niall and Remmi refused to look at me creating a great deal of awkward elevator silence.

Is he mad at me?

As soon as we made it to his apartment I carried Kaylee to her room and carefully tucked her in. I took a much needed deep breath and walked out to the living room where Niall was crouched down in front of Remmi talking to him.

I tried to be quiet until I tripped over a toy making Remmi turn around with a sad face.

"I'm sorry I called you mom." Remmi said barely above a whisper breaking my heart. Before I could change my mind my feet carried me over to Remmi.

"Remmi." I crouched down to hug him. "You're a sweet sweet little boy, you know that?" I pulled back looking him in the eye.

He nodded.

"I'd do anything for you, and I'll be here whenever you need me, but-." I paused looking up at Niall who shrugged his shoulders. "But, but I can't be your mom, I'm sorry."

"If you marry my dad one day you could." He mumbles looking down.

No, heart settle down, settle down.

I pushed my beating heart aside and focused on the trembling boy before me.

"But, for now, I'm just Kaylee's mommy, okay?"

"I'm sorry." He put his hands behind his back.

"No, no, no don't be sorry bud, everything's okay, you have nothing to be sorry for, okay?"

"Okay." He nods.

"What do you say I fix you and your dad a sandwich, yeah?"

"Sounds good to me." Niall picked Remmi up and tossed him in the air trying to cheer him up.

So that's what I did, I fixed the three of us sandwiches before leaving. I needed to go home and let them have a day to themselves, and give my heart a break.
