My old friend continues to hug me tight as she becomes silent. We stay like this for a while, before she finally releases me from my grip. Even then she does not opt to say anything. Instead, she remains quiet as she steps back to simply stare at me. Its almost as if she can't believe I am really here. It's been so long since we have seen each other, Asia is the main person that helped to raise me as a child and yet as the years went by she went on to be my closest friend. It's not really a surprise. We lived together for almost 12 years before I turned 18 and decided I had to leave. Not only for more independence, but there we other factors too that I just couldn't tell her about at the time for why I HAD to go. I don't think there will ever be an appropriate time.
When I first became what I am, she was the one that helped me to learn how to deal with everything, and all the changes while had happened to me. She was a mentor and a best friend. She taught me everything I know. Asia was also the one person, the one vampire my parents could truly trust to look after me from such a young age. But that's a story for another time.
Asia continues to blindly blink at me, taking in my appearance, which I'm sure cant be good considering certain events. "Is that really you Blake?" She whispers as she simply stares in shock.
"Its me A" I smile at her as I pull my friend in for another hug. She doesn't resist and smiles as we hug once again.
"Ive missed you so much B" She tells me
"Me too A, me too." I tell her.
I release her from our hug before a loud, slightly angry cough is made. At this point we both turn to face the girl who's name is apparently Jazz. Jazz stands there with her arms crossed in front of her as she silently glares at me. "Asia, Who is this?" She questions sharply.
"Oh right, Jazz this is Blake, Blake this is Jasmine, Jazz for short." Asia sheepishly introduces us.
"THIS is Blake?" Jazz scoffs. I cant blame her for being mad with me right now, I did insult her and her property and then technically trespass.
"Yes babe, this is Blake." Asia rolls her eyes at her as she puts her arm around my shoulder in a friendly manner. "What was happening between you two before I got here anyways?" she Asks us both as she looks between us. Neither of us bother to reply and instead send a sharp glare at each other. Asia continues to look between us as she slowly pieces together in her mind what must have happened. Her facial expression slowly morphs to one of slight amusement as she notices our bloody and ripped attire, alongside the state of the small cottage.
"You two were fighting weren't you?" She laughs.
"It was her fault!" Jazz yells at the same time I laugh and bluntly tell her yes. Asia simply shakes her head at us both "I don't wanna hear it right now, Jazz go shower, I need to speak to Blake right now."
"But-" Jazz goes to start again but Asia slightly pushes her forward towards the hall and bathroom. An action to which Jazz grumpily sighs but obliges as she walks towards her bag and then to the bathroom.
When she is no longer in sight I turn towards Asia with a awkward smile. "Sooooo" I say as she abruptly starts with "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN B? ITS BEEN 4 YEARS!" Oh.
"I know how long its been but I had to leave, you know I had too, there was so much going on, more than you know, there's still so much going on. Things I just cant tell you A. Its not that I don't want to I just cant." I try to explain to her.
"Look, I know all of that B and I understand that you cant tell me everything, but would a phone call occasionally hurt?" Asia looks towards me with a slightly sad smile on her face.
"I couldn't A, it wasn't safe, it still isn't. All I can do is constantly be on the run. For the last 4 years that's all ive done. I Wouldn't dare make any phone calls in case they tracked me." I tell her.
"Still 4 years B. You're my best friend, 4 years is such little time for us but yet so long too."
"I know A, I know. I'm sorry." I tell her honestly.
"Don't worry about it you're here for now" She smiles at me as she brings me in for another quick hug. I smile, being happy for the first tie in a while, while being with my best friend. She leans back at me before her expression changes to one of curiosity and humour.
"So what happened before I got here?" She asks, obviously already having an idea of what must have happened. I laugh before going to explain everything that had happened before she got here.
"Wait so you're telling me that you and Jazz got into a fight and she's still standing?" She laughs at me. "I'm surprised, you used to be able to knock people out in mere minutes B, You must be getting sloppy"
"More like going easy" I tell her laughing. At that moment Jazz walks back into the room, still with an unhappy expression on her face, but now fresh and clean.
"I would have one if you hadn't got here so soon" Jazz huffs still sending daggers towards me.
"No offense babe, but B is one of the best fighters I know, the fact you're currently standing is just wow" She shrugs towards her... Girlfriend?
"Thanks 'A'" she says as she quotes the nickname A.
"Aww babe don't be mad, Blake told me what happened" Asia stands up and walks towards Jazz, who simply stands with her arms once again crossed over her chest.
"So" I say "You two are a thing aye?" I wink towards the couple.
"That obvious?" Asia smiles
"Of course, Plus I know my best friend" My comment causes Asia to smile and the corners of Jazz's mouth to go up as she attempted to not smile. Maybe one day we could get along.
