*In potions class..*

Professor Slughorn: All right, then. Everyone is going to need a partner to make this potion.. Lets see... Ah, Potter with Weasley... Thomas with Finnigan... Brown with Parkinson... Hermione with Malfoy... And I'll be helping Mr. Longbottom. Now get on with your task, everyone!

What?! How could he pair me with Malfoy?!

Draco: Hello Granger...

"Malfoy..."

*Draco looks over his shoulder to make sure no one is looking.*

Draco: Hermione... I'm really sorry for what happened yesterday...

"Don't be."

Draco: What's that suppose to mean?

"It means that I've had time to think things over... to get my thoughts straight..."

Draco: And what are you thinking now?

"Meet me in the astronomy tower at midnight and maybe I'll tell you..."

Draco: I'll be there

"Good... Now slice those rat tails"

*At 11:45, Hermione goes down to the common room and finds Harry sitting on the couch.*

Harry: Where do you think you're going at this time?

"Oh, um.. I left my potions book on a bench and I need it for my essay"

Harry: Hermione, you can get it in the morning. Go get some sleep

"I can't sleep."

Harry: Fine. But at least take this with you...

*Harry tosses his invisibility cloak to Hermione.*

"Thanks Harry"

Harry: You're welcome!

*Hermione leaves and heads towards the astronomy tower.*

*She enters the tower as quietly as possible.*

Draco: Hermione? Is that you?

"Yep, it's me!"

Draco: So... What did you want to tell me?

"Well, we may not be able to change the past... but we can change the future..."

Draco: What do you mean?

*Hermione leans in and kisses him.*

"I want to be with you... Draco..."

Draco: Really?

"Really."

Draco: What will your friends say?

"Who cares what they think? They don't have to know... What about your friends?"

Draco: They don't have to know either...

"They'd never forgive us if they did..."

Draco: I know...

"I told Ginny that you were in Slytherin. She hates me now because I agreed to meet you..."

Draco: I almost told Blaise but instead of your name, I said 'Pansy'. That's the only reason we dated...

"How did you know that I was there... when you broke up with Pansy?"

Draco: I saw you... And I was actually glad that you were there...

"Why?"

Draco: I wanted to give you a hint as to who wrote those letters. We should probably get going, it's getting late.

"Yeah, you're right."

Draco: Will I see you in potions class tomorrow?

"Of course!"

Draco: Great!

*Draco starts to walk away.*

"Draco?"

*Draco turns around*

Draco: Yes?

"Good night."

Draco: Good night, Hermione

*After Draco leaves, Hermione hears a commotion outside the door."

Ron: You stay away from her, MALFOY! Or you'll wish you were dead!

*Hermione sees Draco on the ground, his nose bleeding.*

"Harry! Ron! What are you doing?!"

Harry: Hermione, are you alright?

Ron: Did he hurt you?!

"I'm fine! What did you do to him?!"

Draco: Don't bother, Granger! Why would I want help from a filthy little mudblood like you?!

Ron: You take that back, Malfoy!

"Stop it! All of you! Do you want to get yourselves expelled?!"

Draco: My father will hear about this!

*Draco gets up and runs away*

"What was that for?"

Harry: You weren't back yet so I pulled out the Maurauder's Map to check on you and I saw that you were with HIM!

"And you beat him up for no reason?!"

Harry: Wait. You mean he didn't do anything to you?

"No, Harry. He didn't do anything to me!"

Ron: Then what the heck were you doing with him?!

"We were talking about our potions assignment!"

Ron: Why?

"Professor Slughorn paired us together, remember?"

Harry: Oh yeah! I remember...

Ron: Are you sure that there's nothing going on between you and Malfoy?

"Of course, Ronald! How could you ask such a thing?!"

Ron: I'm sorry... You're right... I should've known better...

Harry: Can we go back to the common room now?

*They all laugh as they make their way back to the common room..*

*The next day in potions class.*

"I'm sorry for what Harry and Ron did to you last night! Are you okay?"

Draco: Don't worry, Hermione, I'm fine! I'm sorry for what I said to you...

"Don't be! Are you sure you're alright?"

Draco: Yes, Hermione! Why did they go after me anyway?

"They saw us together on the Maurauder's Map."

Draco: I see...

"Looks like it's going to be harder to keep this away from our friends than we thought..."

Draco: That's okay, I like a challenge!
