MELANIE POV

I was still pacing, mumbling to myself and panicking more than I had ever panicked before in my life. Mira had stopped trying to reassure me that everything was fine. She was now sitting on the edge of the bed, staring out the window like I had been doing earlier.

"What if he's dead right now? And I don't even know?!" I asked worriedly to no one in particular. I started to hyperventilate.

"Baby?" A familiar voice called. I spun around and gasped when I saw Chris. I threw myself into his arms and hugged him tightly, breathing in his scent. A large part of me thought I'd never see him again, never be able to be held by him like this again. I loved him even more than I realized.

"You're safe." I whispered over and over, the words repeating themselves as I clung to him. He chuckled softly.

"I see you missed me." He whispered, kissing my forehead. I tilted my chin up and kissed his lips, feeling how soft and warm they were against my own. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer, feeling one of his hands on my lower back, his other hand tangling in my hair. I was lost in the kiss until someone cleared their throat. I pulled back and gasped when I saw a LOT of demons standing in the doorway. Each one of their necklaces were gleaming with a dull red glow.

"C-Chris." I said nervously, gesturing to the crowd. To my surprise, he just smiled at me.

"I'm in control now. I'm their leader. And none of them will hurt you anymore. I changed the rules." He said proudly, causing a wide grin to spread across my face. Mira, who had been listening in, gave a squeal of delight and embraced Jared, who had just walked to the front of the crowd. I smiled and kissed Chris again, not caring that everyone was watching.

"You finally did it." I whispered against his lips, grinning happily. He held me tightly to his body kissing my neck softly.

"Of course I did."

An hour later I was seated in the living room, sitting in Chris' lap and staring around at the rest of the demons that he now commanded. They had all introduced themselves to me, but some of their eyes had been black with hunger. I had flinched with fear at first, but Chris had leaned down and whispered in my ear, assuring me that they wouldn't harm me. I finally believed him after the third time he repeated it. I felt so free to be able to sit with Chris like this, without hiding from Jackson or any other stupid "demon leader" or whatever Chris called them.

Mira and Jared had disappeared upstairs, probably to make out in private, but Chris just held my hand like he would never let it go; somehow, just that one touch seemed more intimate to me than anything else. I leaned back against his chest and he smiled at me.

"I have a present for you." He mumbled. I looked around and saw that everyone else was distracted by the TV or their phones.

"What is it?" I asked softly, seeing his eyes turn slightly red. I felt him press something cold into my palm, and I looked down to see what it was. I gave him a puzzled look.

"I thought humans can't wear these necklaces." I said, feeling confused.

"That's just what Jackson told us. But the secret is, if a human wears a demon necklace, they can be fed from by a demon without being harmed." He explained. A smile lit up my face.

"S-So you mean that you can feed on me for an unlimited amount of time and I won't even feel it?" I asked excitedly. This could be the whole solution to our problem! He chuckled and shook his head.

"Kind of. You'll still be able to feel it, but it just won't make you tired and it won't make you pass out. But..." He lowered his lips to my ear and breathed his next words in a low, husky voice. "You'll still be able to feel all the pleasure that comes along with it." He mumbled. I shivered slightly and he kissed my shoulder. I gently accepted the necklace from him and slipped it over my head, seeing it glow red once it settled on my chest.
