"Rise and shine sleepy head!" A chum starts smashing his pots on the ground. "You can't just sleep on the job!" I groan, as usual I had a sleepless night. "Come on Chi! I was sent to get you up and testing them machines!" The chum waddled to me. I glare at him. "Fine, I'm up," I pushed myself up to my feet. "Okie-dokie! Let's get-a testin!" He screeches with joy, man I really hate chums. I was escorted by the chum to the warehouse in our facility. The chum turns on the lights, and in a row they turn on, showing every machine we made for war. "Alrighty, lets start with the scrapper machine, our boss orders first," Suggested the chum. "Right... because the bosses's snobby daughter is a scrapper..." I huff and tied my hair in a high ponytail. My hand reached down my apron and grabbed my mask, I slid it on, putting the bands on each ear. (Like what you get in hospitals.) In the pocket of my apron I grab a stack of keys on a chain, picking the scrapper keys and turning the machine on. Some of our machines we had to turn on like cars, others have levers and more fancy things. "She looks like she's up and running," I examine. "Well? Aren't ya gonna give it a whirl?" The chum tugs on my apron. "Might as well," the scrapper is kind of small, but at least I can still fit. The scrapper machine is all started up, I start by shifting to gear and hitting the gas pedal. The scrapper machine squawks as the lake oil we use starts to flow. It starts slow, as it was moving it grew faster, that's how it was supposed to be. "There seems to be no problems," I murmur.
"Cool cool, what next Chi?" The chum helps me out of the small scrapper. "Hmm, perhaps the drizzler," I thought, me and the chum opened the steel umbrella. "Be careful!" Behind us, there was a whine of another salmonoid. "Oh, hey Yumi," My body turns to face the short salmonoid. Yumi was a ginger with pretty rare blue eyes. It was rare to have blue, most salmon eyes are green, brown, or gray. I'm really close to Yumi, we're friends. "You're testing again? Thought only on the beginning of the week!" Yumi squawks. "Chi was ordered to re-test all the machines, I was sent to watch over so she doesn't slack!" The chum explains. "Makes sense, be careful with Joetta! She's my baby," Yumi snatches the steel umbrella and cuddles it. "You really think I'm going to break her? I've been testing her for years," I shake my head at my ginger friend. "Guess you're right, but that doesn't mean to be reckless with her!" Yumi softly hands "Joetta" back. "You can even watch me to make sure," I roll my eyes. Yumi nods and sits by the chum. I open the steel umbrella, it was still shiny new. Yumi always polishes it like everyday. "Okay, now catch this so we don't actually set off the ink storm," I ordered as I got under the umbrella and prepared to shoot. I had to make sure everything was up and running for whatever the boss is planning. "Ready?" I ask the chum. "Okie-dokie!" The chum screeches. I aim directly at the chum, launching it slowly to him. Unfortunately he was too short. "I got it!" Yumi dives to the bomb for the ink storm.
"That angle was a bit off but it should be fine," Yumi hands me the bomb. "Jeez precise much?" I chuckle, Yumi joins. "Ugh! I hate these stubby fins! I'm gonna be short forever!" The chum cries. "It's alright, I'm sure you'll grow eventually," Yumi picks him up. She knew how to cheer people up. The chum was automatically back to normal. "Stop lacking you two! We gotta get back to testin!" The chum jumps out of Yumi's arms and (tries to) run to the next machine which was the Flyfish Machine. This time it was outside. "Sorry Yumi, but I'm going to target you," I sputtered out and quickly turn the key to the Flyfish. "Wait wahhh?" Yumi spaces out then turns to the Flyfish machine. I aim all missiles at Yumi, she freaks out and dodges all of them in a heartbeat. "Hey! That's so mean!" Yumi cries. I started to chuckle. I gently landed the Flyfish and got out. "Chi Chi!" Yumi angrily shakes me. "Don't call me that," I growled. "Then why did you aim at me?" Yumi whines. "Because you're the side of an inkling~" I teased. "STOP CALLING ME SHORT!" Yumi almost gouged out my eyes. "...Chi Chi!" "Shorty!~"
Yumi and I kept throwing insults at each other, the chum didn't even bother to stop us. "Guys, I need to continue, let's move on," I left the two and continued to go test the stinger's gun. I aimed at the window, because I knew that it wouldn't break it. It started okay, but then it started pushing me backwards almost back to them, I let go of the trigger but it kept going. "Eh? What are you doing Chiyo?" Yumi stands beside me. "The trigger might be stuck... it won't stop blasting," I tried fixing it. "Here let me help!" Yumi tries to take the stinger gun, but we both fell back and it was out of our grasp. It went nuts, the gun spins out of control. "What the hell is going on?!" Footsteps rushed to the scene. "Aye, the same mistake!" Reo, screeches. He was the best with the stinger, thank god he's here. He grabs the gun and tugs on the trigger and it finally turn off.
"The hell you two doing?" Reo snaps. "Testing the weapons duh!"I roll my eyes at him, he helps me and Yumi to our feet. "You're doing a bad job," Reo sighs. "Try testing every weapon," I teased, he took it seriously. "Chi, he's not trusting... boss doesn't trust anyone but you," The chum explains to me. "Well, you heard him, can't do it," I chuckle. "N-nope! I'm going to do it! On the st-steel eel!" Reo hopped onto my favorite weapon. "Hahah, like to see you try," I shook my head at him. The steel eel is the most difficult to control besides the mothership. But I'm the only one to control it. It had a stick shift, a steering wheel, and a scope to help look what's in front. The seat was fixed just last week. "Ah, see? Easy to... uh... I'm stuck..." Reo starts to panic. "Hmm see? Maybe you shouldn't be so cocky..." I sigh. Reo gets out of the steel eel and stood there awkwardly. "Okay, lets see..." I get into the steel eel and shifted into gear. I look through the scope and started to go into drive. She was moving swimmingly. "No problems on my baby~" I hop out, and petted "her". "Uhhh Chi...?" The chum tugs at my apron. "Boss ordered you to check out the mothership too... only you too..." The chum tells me. Wow, my second time checking the mothership. "Boss said he hears really woomy noises..." "Alright, lets go have a look, I'll catch up with you guys later okay?" I waved goodbye to Reo and Yumi.
"Right, goodbye Chikyoko," Reo winks. "Bye bye Chiyo~" Yumi waves back.
At least I don't have to test the griller, it's still being fixed right now so it's less than normal. The chum escorts me to the private garage for the mothership. She was shiny and new. Boss was there too. "Ah finally, what took you so long?" Boss growls. "My apologies, the stinger gun was out of control so it was difficult stopping it," I apologize. "Wow again, Reo must've sticky fingers to make it stuck," Boss mumbles under his breath. "Okay, what seems to be the problem?" I change the subject. "Well, I keep hearing something exploding, maybe from the engine..." Boss explains. "Ah, must be something with the rotor, may I take a look?" I turn to Boss. "Yes, if you will," Boss nods. I sit on the roller and rolled under the ship, taking the top off. Everything looked okay, the rotor was just old from a "car" from when things called humans were alive. "Nothing seems to be the problem..." I loudly assured Boss. "Are you sure? Nothing's the problem?" Boss crouches down. "We don't know unless we test it," I tell him.
"Huh, okay, come out from under there..." Boss pulls out the cart I laid on and helped me to my feet. "Oh... uh... thank you," I blush. "You're welcome?" Boss questions. "Would you like to test it, or shall I?" I ask. "Y-You can give it a whirl..." Boss replies. "O-oh... I can?" I said with excitement. "Yeah hurry and do it before I change my mind..." Boss growls. I scurry onto the mothership and powered it on. This was newer to me. Everything, was so cool. It was all touch screen from a old "car"! It had airplane commands, it was just wonderland for me. I press auto pilot, it immediately lifted into the air, I was screaming in the inside. There was so much to do on the mothership, wish Boss would let me work on the mothership everyday. There was no noise coming from it, it was just all good. I landed the mothership gently, and exited out. "Wow, looks like she likes you better than me," Boss chuckles. "This mothership always makes a sound but for you, silent like the wind." "What can I say, I have a way with machines~" I beam. "Okay Suribari, shift is over, you can go home for the day," The chum jumps up and down. "Oh already? That's a bit early but I'll take it," I said all excited. "Goodbye boss," I bow and left the building.

Welcome to a new story about one of the only salmonlings I know, Chiyoko Suribari.
Don't mind my crappy drawing
As you may now, Chiyoko makes an important appearance to Better Times.
I decided to finally make a new book about her, nobody really care about them, but I'm that extra person that does...I wanted to show how (I think) the machines in salmon run works, that's why I had a description for each I guess... it just felt right to me.
How to pronounce their names
Chiyoko: I think you guys know
Yumi: oo-me
Reo: it's like rio but with an "e"Welp, I hope you like this short introduction.
Stay hella fresh~
