Atabey is one of two supreme deities of the Taino people. She is the goddess of fresh water and fertility. She is also known as Caguana a spirit of Love and Guabancex the violent wild mother of storms, volcanoes and earthquakes. The Taino's used to worship her and hold her on high but she noticed as time went on her people worshiped her less and less as they became more consumed with modern advances. This caused Atabey's powers to diminish and she has become weak. It became difficult for her to watch over the Caribbean. Less and less people believed in her. She looked to the mortals and noticed that many of them have either became lazy, self absorbed, or both. Though there were many advances to modernize the people and make their work lives easier the enviorment around them has been neglected and abuse through the modern advancement. "These mortals have become so self absorbed and gluttonous that they don't realize the how their selfishness causes destruction around them. At this pace no one animal or human will have clean water and I will disappear. What could I do to get their attention to get them to make a change?"

This is my 300 word story on World Water Day 2019 themed 'Water for All, Leaving No One behind' as an entry for the 5th Writing Project (2nd Writing Project on Water Day) organized and coordinated by Chinthaka Nanayakkara - who was a former Brand Ambassador to Sweek.com but now active in Wattpad! It was nice of him to invite me personally to join this Writing Project on World Water Day 2019 and I was very happy to accept. Using Google Drive he shared a word document with me and when I wrote my 300 draft story he edited and enhanced it. When the story was ready to be published, Chinthaka designed me a book cover using Canva.com. I sincerely hope he would feature my story in his new promo video on World Water Day 2019 and provide his guidance to expand this 500 words story into a 10K e-book to be published in Amazon!

The floodplains of Mongolia's Nemegt Formation have become a place where many species of dinosaurs thrive. But this place is not without its danger. A group of baby Deinocheirus find themselves the targets of a pack of predatory raptors called Adasaurus. All on their own, the chicks have to run through the dense jungle in order to avoid being a carnivore's next meal.

Have you ever wondered what kind of fish can give birth to live young, tolerate different levels of salinity, and display a stunning array of colors and patterns? Meet Poecilia, a genus of freshwater fish that includes some of the most popular and easy-to-care-for aquarium fish, such as guppies, mollies, and Endler's livebearers. Poecilia is a genus of fish in the family Poeciliidae. These fishes are also known as livebearers because they give birth to live young instead of laying eggs. They are native to fresh, brackish, and saltwater in the Americas, and some species can tolerate a wide range of salinities. They are popular aquarium fish, and some of them have been used for mosquito control and scientific research.

It is too easy to sit back. To forget. To dwindle into oblivion, ignoring the problems. Have you ever heard the song, "Earth" by Michael Jackson? There are some people that can't just sit. Our Earth is disappearing. Because of us. It is predicted by 2040 that our clean water supply will run out. Sending us into the stone ages. Millions of people know about this, yet a very small handful choose to do something. Now I know, you hear all those commercials. "Save the Earth!" We watch them. Shrug it off. No one wants to learn our problems. Shake it off. Make them disappear. That is the fault in the human kind. We are selfish. Cruel. Predators. Destroyers. We will take everything until there is nothing left to take. Someone needs to say something. Someone needs to stand in the way of the machines killing millions of trees. Plants. Animals. Families. We are stepping over each other to reach the final prize. Willingly stabbing our brothers in the back to earn what we want.
