I hesitated as I stood in front of the door, feeling as though I was the only one there when I wasn't.

Shortly after I woke up, dishevelled, and feeling guilty for falling asleep when my house guest was over, Kominato called me. He told me to join him and the others for a study session at Mabuchi's.

I didn't know where he lived, so we all met up at a park near our school and walked to his house ourselves.

Now, we all stood outside Mabuchi's door, waiting patiently.

Eager to enter, Aya rung the doorbell with a grin on his face. He was the most excited one of us all, although I couldn't tell whether it was because we all met up or because he convinced Shuuko to tag along.

When there was no answer, the blond boy rung the bell again, not taking his finger off the button until there was the sound of the door being unlocked. My hand gripped my plastic bag tighter at the annoyingly high-pitched noise.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE—

The door swung open and out popped a very irritated Mabuchi. "Shut up!"

—EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

Kominato, feeling victorious at seeing Mabuchi's irritated expression, chirped, "Good morning, Mabuchi Kou! How was your sleep? I trust that you've been doing well!"

Mabuchi's pale face was the definition of confusion and irritation. Raven hair curled at the edges, heavy bags resting underneath his sharp, brown eyes and clothes rumpled at every corner, he looked too tired to be awake.

"You woke me up just to study?" he groaned, crossing his arms and staring at us.

"Yeah, we all need to bring our grades up if we wanna stay in the same class next year!" Kominato grinned, holding a bag in his hands. "I brought some snacks over. I'm taking the leftovers home though. Mind if we come in?"

"Do I even have a choice?"

"Nope!"

Mabuchi sighed and opened the wooden door wider, leading us into his home. "Come in, I guess..."

Kominato was the first to dash into the house. Shuuko cautiously followed him, taking her time to observe the area. Futaba and Yuri came in after, warm smiles on their faces as they greeted Mabuchi.

I was the last to go in, but the exhausted boy held the door for me, keeping it open until I was inside.

"Sorry for the intrusion," I muttered, taking off my shoes and setting them near the exit.

"So polite... no one else is even here. Are you an old grandma?" Mabuchi teased.

I huffed. "It's common courtesy. I see you don't practise it often?"

He shrugged. "I don't have many good role models." A crash was heard upstairs, followed by Kominato's apologetic screaming. "Take that, for example."

I couldn't help but smile. "I understand. Sorry for the 'misunderstanding'."

"Ah. No problem."

"So... you live here alone?" I started awkwardly.

"Not really," he muttered, heading up the stairs. "Are you going to stand there or..."

Leading me to his room, Mabuchi mumbled about how loud Kominato was being, wondering about what he knocked over.

We entered the room and found Kominato exploring Mabuchi's room.
