"Kou?" I felt someone nudge me. It was Aya "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing," Makita slid from the medical room and joined us near the windows. I turned to Makita and smiled at her reassuringly. Her cheeks reddened, maybe the heat was too much for her. "Futaba's feeling better, I'm assuming?"

She nodded, relief flushing her expression. "Yeah, she's a lot better now."

"Tell her it's good to know that she's feeling better." (F/n) commented. "For now, I'm going to go downstairs."

"W-wait, here!" Makita hurriedly brought a handful of sweets from her pocket and gave (f/n) some. "I know it isn't much, but I thought that you might need it..." Her brown eyes hinted at her slightly wet cheeks.

(F/n) smiled. "Thank you, I'll be sure to savour them." Bidding us a small 'see you later', she left us and appeared soon after outside, greeting the trio of boys with laughter.

Not too soon long after, Makita offered us some of her sweets. I thanked her for the offer, but refused.

"Do you not like sweets, Mabuchi?" Makita asked, fiddling with the two pieces of wrapped candies in her hands.

"I just don't eat them that often."

"I see," she mumbled.

We suddenly became quiet.

"Mabuchi-kun..."

"Yeah?"

"Is it okay if I ask you about something? I'll try to not make it too personal, I promise!"

I raised a brow, slightly confused at her sudden question. "Sure."

"Ah, well, you see..." Makito looked away, unsure of how to start. She spotted the (h/c)-haired girl sitting down at the bench with her friends. A moment of contemplation. She spoke again "You were in the same class as Futaba-chan and (f/n)-chan, right? Futaba-chan told me how she was best friends with (f/n)-chan before. Whenever we hang out, Futaba-chan and (f/n)-chan are a bit awkward with each other, and I really want to fix that so that we can have a better time with each other, you know?"

A better time with each other?

"Like how (f/n)-chan is with Kikuchi-kun down there." Makita smiled. "I want (f/n)-chan to be just as comfortable with us as she is with Kikuchi-kun and the others. That way, we wouldn't have to worry about being awkward and maybe we could all hang out more. In other words, I really want to mend the broken bond between them so that we can make more happy memories. Oh, is that too cheesy?"

I let her words sink in. The more Makita talked about it, the more curious I became of what came between the two girls. They were stuck like glue together before, I remember. I don't even know what happened between them.

"From what I can remember, I don't know why they broke apart. Even if they told me what happened, I don't think I'd know what to do or whether it's good to do anything at all." I answered, Futaba's voice echoing in my ears. What if it was about me? she asked. Whether it was a slip of a tongue or not, I don't know what I'd do if I was the reason for their split up. I don't even remember if I did anything.

I stared out of the window, face in palm, watching the group of friends below, sheltered by the shade of the trees. Amongst all of the students near them, they stood out. You could see the happiness radiating off them like sunlight. As if the world didn't matter; that theirs was full of colour.

It would be nice if she was like that with us. I could see why Makita wanted the same.

To break the silent stares I was receiving from both ends, I spoke, "Ultimately, it's their problem to figure out. Their's to solve. We can't interfere even if we only have good intentions. For now, though, I think it might be sorted..."
