Dean's P.O.V.
Finally, we arrived at the school and parted our separate ways to head to our first classes. Lilly's first class was science, and mine was english, both on opposite sides of the school. English couldn't have been any more boring. Then again, is it ever really that interesting? I removed my beenie and threaded my fingers through my thick hair. Afted repositioning my beenie I scribbled in my notebook in attempt to keep from falling asleep. A failed attempt I might add. As I slowly drifted out of reality, a brash voice shook me back to consciousness.
"Not enough sleep babe? Parents arguing keep you up again?" Ruby, my girlfriend, snapped sarcastically with an arrogant smile drifting across her face.
I was taken aback with her comment. She knew my parents fought. She knew my mom was a verbally abusive alcoholic. She knew my dad physically abused my mother when he wasn't pulling twelve hour shifts at work. And still, after knowing all of this, she has the nerve to ask that? Out loud, in front of the entire class? Leave it to Ruby to exceed your expectations on how heartless she can be. I slowly lifted my head and studied Ruby's face. Every time I see her, every time I hear her high voice, some how, my hatred for her consumes all my other feelings for her, to the point all I feel towards her is disgust. Her vile humor stung as it echoed through my mind on replay. I decided not to reply to her. I didn't want to talk to her. I just gave her a disappointed glare and looked away. Ruby brushed it off like nothing while playing with her long black hair. Suddenly, I'm not so tired. I don't even know why I'm with Ruby. We started dating almost a year ago. Back then she seemed nice, but ever since this summer something in her changed. I've been hoping the old Ruby would come back, but its not worth it anymore. I'm done.
Class ended and all the students slowly exited in a crowed including Ms. Wallis, our english teacher. All but Ruby and I. I slipped my last piece of paper in my bag, and got out of my chair, noticing Ruby from the corner of my eye. She was apply one last layer of lip gloss on her full lips. I rolled my eyes and clutched my bag while slinging it over my shoulder. I'm almost to the door, maybe she won't say anything... Oh Lord please let me get out of here without Ruby sa-
"Dean," Ruby called out.
So frick'n close! I froze in my tracks. My body instantly tensed up at the sound of her voice. I clenched my jaw.
"What?" I snapped back in an annoyed tome.
I know I shouldn't have said that, not the way I did at lest. But I just cant help it! She makes me so mad!
"Babe, we need to talk." she explained turning to me while still sitting as if I hadn't said anything.
"About?"I questioned as I turned to face her.
"You of course. You've been so distant. We stopped talking. And on top of that I see you on your way to school with some girl grabbing on to you on your skate board!" she huffed with frustration. As her narrow eyes opened a little, she went on to say,
"But...I am okay with forgetting this ever happened, and just picking up where we left off last year... But on one condition, You stop hanging out with that girl." Ruby proposed with a scowl.
Is she being serious right now? I can feel anger starting to settle in me as I stare at her smug grin, as if she just knew I'd run up to her like a lost puppy or some thing. Well she has another thing coming. Don't get me wrong, I used to love being with Ruby, but like I said before, she's changed for the worse. I'm done trying to patch things up and acting like nothing ever happened. And on top of that, she's telling me I cant see Lilly any more?! What the heck is she on? Well I guess this is all it comes down to... Ruby or Lilly?
