Dean's P.O.V.
"There was a leaf in your hair," I confessed with a smirk while dropping the leaf I now held in my hand and sliding my arm back to her side.
Whats she feeling, or thinking at least? Usually I can tell what someone is feeling when I'm with them, but not Lilly. I just draw a blank with her. Lilly's eyes looked relaxed, but my thumb could feel her skin on her side where her tank top had lifted a little. She was warm, but a bit tense. Did she feel awkward? I've gone out with plenty of girls, and I'm pretty good with charming them, so why isn't Lilly showing interest in me? Maybe I should have stayed with Ruby, I was never confused with what she was feeling when I was with her. No, I did the right thing by breaking up with Ruby. Well she may not have been as relieved as I was to end it…
-Flash back-
"But…I am okay with forgetting this ever happened, and just picking up where we left off last year… But on one condition, you stop hanging out with that girl," Ruby proposed with a scowl.
"Well, you see, thats just it… I don't want to forget about what happened. Lilly, yeah that girl has a name, is great, and I had an amazing time with her this morning and I plan on seeing her again. Soon, actually. So, yeah, I guess it is over between us Ruby, in fact I think it was over between us months ago."
"Babe, what are you trying to say?! That your picking that trashy slut over me?" Ruby hissed with thick shock and disapproval.
"She's not trashy, and certainly not a slut. But I can't say the same about you. I mean come on Ruby. Lets not pretend that you haven't been sneaking arounds with Gordon. Practically the whole football team knows, not to mention our grade." As I boardley remarked this, Ruby seemed to be genuinely shocked that I knew.
How could I not know? Gordon is the line back on our football team and has a history of using the cheer leaders. Ruby is on the squad, she's actually pretty good, but she's not the team captain or anything. But anyways, at the last football game last year I wasn't going to be able to make it because i was watching my younger brother, Adam, at home while my parents were gone. But one of Adams friends ended up inviting him over to spend the night that night, so I ended up being able to make it after all. But I had already explained to Ruby how and why I wasn't going to be able to make it, so I decided to surprise her with flowers at the end of the game. It was a great game! The Winchester warriors destroyed the other team, 48 to 19. Everyone on the bleachers was going crazy, including the players. Families of the football players were hugging and congratulating their sons, and the cheerleaders began to join in the celebration. I had bought Ruby half a dozen pink tulips. The air was cool that night, and I was wearing my old gray 'All Time Low' pull over, black skinny jeans, and my grey Vans. After searching for Ruby through the crowd of excited fans, I finally spotted her. She appeared to be shivering, and you cant blame her. The uniforms they wear show more than they cover. As I made my way through the crowd, keeping my eyes on Ruby while she celebrated with the football team, I began to take off my pull over, revealing my white V-neck. I was planning on letting Ruby wear it to keep warn when all of the sudden I stopped in my tracks. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Gordon Gage had wrapped his arm around ruby and she had reached up and planted one right on his lips, which he wasn't slow to give back might I add. In that moment the only thing I was feeling was betrayal. But the only thing I was thinking was what a long night I had ahead of me. After staring in disbelief I turned, slid my pull over over my body once more, hiding in the comfort and warmth of something familiar, and dragged my feet to the exit. While I neared it I noticed a trash can leaning up against the gate you pass to exit. I looked down at the pink tulips, just then noticing one of the flowers was withered. I ran my finger over a pale, tannish dead petal. After doing so the petal detached from the dead flower and slowly drifted through the heavy air until hitting the gravel beneath it. I shoved the rest of the tulips in the rusty trash bin and left the scene blankly. I never tolled anyone, including Ruby, what I saw that night. Well, till now I guess. But every once in a while I'd notice them still creeping around in secret. I never said anything because, quite frankly, I didn't even want to admit it to myself.
"Dean, honey, I would never-" Ruby started but I interrupted,
"Save it Ruby. I've known ever since last year. I'm over it, and you." I shrugged while I opened the the door.
"Dean. I'm sorry, but you cant seriously be choosing that tramp over me. I mean, us, we just work."
"Yeah, we just worked so well, you had to go and cheat, right?" I questioned while I had one foot out the door.
"It's never going to work, you do know that right?" Ruby uttered with confidence.
I left that class room, not looking back, trying not to let her words get in my head.
-End Of Flash Back-
While Ruby's words echoed in my head I trailed my eyes down Lilly's face finding her lips. Soon after I could feel goosebumps forming on her side. This just made me laugh.
Lilly's P.O.V.
Wait, does Dean like me? He probably doesn't…but he could, right? After Dean dropped the leaf he had picked out of my hair, he placed his arm beside my side once again, mimicking his other arm. Although on the inside I was screaming, my outside was surprisingly calm over all. Just a little stiff, but could you blame me? I felt like if I moved a muscle I'd wake up and find this was all just an amazing dream. Suddenly, Dean pursed his lips while he hovered over me. His relaxed expression soon dissolved into amusement and laughter. Why is he laughing? Is he laughing at me? I don't know, but I can't help but gawk at his unrivaled smile. This wasn't a smirk. This wasn't the smile your given when your joke isn't funny. This was real. Dean's face was beaming with joy and amusement. His eyes glinted with the setting sun that warmed the fragrant air we shared. If I had to choose one face to stare at for the remainder of my life, it would be his. A smile soon tugged on my lips. The sound of leaves crunching under feet neared us. I quickly stiffened even more then i had before and turned my head to see who was approaching. Jared.
