shoot, I should've taken the picture slightly lower bUT EHHH

I haven't sketched in pencil in forever and just a heads up, this is all done by my friend

GIVE IT UP FOR DIXON TINCONDEROGAAAA (it's basically a number 2 pencil idk what's so special about-)

before you get very confused, the guy on the left with black hair is Ky while the guy on the right is Valerian ouo;;

At the beginning, Ky's head was supposed to lean back to the point you can see the shading of the nose a bit more (for the nostrils. anime characters don't have nostrils oml)

yet I had him look like he's looking down yes- then Valerian was looking back down (Idk I had such a clear picture in my head but-)

OKAY IMAGINE CHARACTER A HAD HIS HEAD AGAINST A SOFA WHILE CHARACTER B WAS LAYING UPSIDE-DOWN AND THERE'S YOUR ANSWER-

It was kind of hard to draw Ky because at first, I was drawing him at the top of my head so his eyebrows are probably less thick than the original sketch but eh. I later checked back at the manga sketch and I was like oops since his ears were perking out a lot...

originally I had Ky a really-- I think I described Ky as mature which is why you always see him just-- staring outer space but then after I got my head around HIS CHARACTER, I was like damn. I've been doing this the wrong way. You can say a person's looks tell a lot about their personality so, I decided to make Ky grin in this picture because he's more like the childish character.

I actually had to sketch out his grin a lot of times- most of the thing I thought it was too low and the other time, I thought that I made the grin too big... yeah...

valerian's character there though, I actually didn't have any much space since Ky stole the whole spotlight so his face is almost cut off gosh. His eyes are a bit different because I legit forgot how it went and I was so sure that it wasn't that 'asian' :')

A mess up that I did was most likely the shading of both of the characters' hair-- pretty sure there was too much yep but I just left it there cause it was in the middle of the night

the best parts of this were most likely Ky's expression, how little I showed of Valerian's face to make him look rEALLY COOL (coughing), and Ky's hand like gosh that actually looks like a normal, functional hand...

art progress (but in text hahaha)

1. the regular circle and the addition sign in the middle of the head

2. throughout character sketches

3. character expressions + easy clothing stuff

4. erasing of the original sketch so you don't see the addition sign anymore aghh

5. mess up on Ky's smile for like the 5th time and then decide to stick with the one above

6. draw both characters' hair in EVERY direction (like dang look at Valerian's hair) + shading/coloring (however you say it)

7. used a spare piece of paper to blend both characters' hair, eyes, Ky's blazer, and shading for Ky's neck--

8. starting to work on the right side of the picture- which is only about Ky's hand :')

9. fail on Ky's hand for what seemed like three tries

10. shading of the rest (the right side of the picture)

11. highlights for both characters' eyes and hair then the signature

12. use the pencil and outline both characters

13. i think i probably missed a step or misplaced one of them but then again it was like in the middle of the night but here you go

welp, see you next time. I WILL most likely make another pencil art with my best friend ;)) or with something else who knows...
