"Good morning Mrs. Cruz."
"Good morning Doc... Call me Maine."
"Alright.." They sit across each other.
"So, Maine... What brings you here?"
"Where do I start...." Maine pauses and looks out the window.
"You can start with what you currently have in mind."
"I just found out my husband's gay."
"Okay. And that made you decide to come to therapy?"
"Yes... And no..."
Dr. Villa pauses, and waits for Maine to reply.
"Ang hirap...." Maine says, and takes a few deep breaths.
"Go ahead Maine. Hindi tayo magmamadali. This is our first session, and if you're not ready to tell me anything yet---"
"No, kaya ko. Okay lang. Naiyak ko na ata lahat...." Maine tries to stop her tears.
Dr. Villa looks at her with emphatic eyes, making her feel safe and assured.
Maine looks at her, then stares at the window again, sighing as she turns the wedding ring on her finger.
She doesn't know why she still wears the stupid ring.
"I'm here because of that.... And... because of another man... "
"Okay... Where do you want to start then?"
"Let's start with the other man. With Alden. My first love."
