Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and months into years, suddenly i was almost graduating. Everything was OK between me and Khadija, we had plans to get Married after school, I had to get a job first. After The unexpected incident involving me and Kameela at school,, I never Saw her or heard from her Again. I tried calling her multitude of times, but it seems she blocked my number and on social media too. What did i expect that we'll be good Friends after what I did to her heck no!! I still feel bad anytime I think about it.
I finally graduated from the University with a First class In environmental health and toxicology. I received a congratulatory text from an unknown number, when I tried calling it the person wouldn't answer I didn't care, Khadija had come to celebrate with me and I was really happy to have her in my life., but That was The easy part.
Finding a job Was The hard part I had been searching for months but to no fruition, Khadija had introduced me To her Dad as the man she Wanted to get married to but I was hit with the obvious question. What do u do for a living Young man, nothing for now sir, am hoping to get a Job soon, may Allah grant you that which u desire young Man said her father. I had Taken Her Home to meet My family, mother didn't Like her at first she preferred Kameela but with time She got more and more acquainted with her,my sister never liked Khadija, she was good friends with Kameela.
As the job hunting got more and more frustrating, my Situation wasn't helped by the various men who were hovering around khadija at home and at work. They asked her Hand In marriage but she consequently kept refusing them, her dad had offers from His friends too but he respected her decision to wait for me seeing as she loves me so much.
A year passed and I was still jobless, clearly I was getting frustrated, I had begin to lash out at everyone even Khadija she understood what I was going through and never got mad at me even after I accused her of cheating on me. I was scared she was Gonna leave me for other men due to my joblessness but she assured me she wouldn't leave me for anything in this life.
Her dad on the other Hand had other ideas, he wanted to get her married to a Friend of his a SHEIKH, in his defence he had given us enough time to sort ourselves out.
He had set a date for her marriage, he couldn't be reasoned with his decision was final. My life was crumbling faster than I could pick up the pieces.
Khadija wanted us to run far far away, it was a Tempting offer but the man to man Talk I had with her father convinced me not to. Earlier he had invited me over when she wasn't at home, he talked about how he wanted What best for his daughter, he's not doing this to hurt both of us but as her father he believes, he knows what is good for her, we might not like it now but in time we will, he asked I'd do nothing rash, I respected his words.
As I watched from a distance Khadija's wedding, with a bitter heart tears rained down my eyes, was this karma getting back at us for what we did to Kameela as I looked at Khadija crying on her sofa close to her husband I could tell she was in as much pain as I was, there was nothing we could do about it life has thrown it last rock at me or so I thought.
I wandered the streets of Abuja thinking hard about how the love of my Life was in another man's arms, so deep in thought without noticing I had strayed into the high way. A collision with a car that left me hospitalized and in need of urgent blood transfusion which I got later from a good and kind soul. As I woke up on the hospital bed with bandages on my head and Chest, the doctors told me of how I had called a number in my delusional state and how they consequently Called and a lady came and donated blood For me, when I got the number from the doctor, it was Kameela's. Tears rolled down my eyes as it dawned on me that it was her who sent me the congratulatory text on my graduation day, as I beat my Head against the wall I thought what a massive mistake I made breaking up with her, after what I did to her she doesn't still hate me.
My Parents and sister were involved In a ghastly accident on their way to Abuja to see me they both died but my sister Survived, although she was in a coma state.
I had lost everything, my love, my family and my self esteem the only person I had right now was my sister, she was the reason I had to be strong.
