P.S. Remember, Harry is still shirtless throughout the first part of this chapter... Just thought I'd give you a mental picture xD

Valerie was frozen. What did he just say? Harry stood in front of her, frozen. He looked like he was about to cry, or that he was in serious pain saying this.

"W-What?" stammered Valerie. "What are you talking about, Harry?" Harry sighed.

"I'm saying that I can't see you anymore." Valerie's breath hitched in her throat.

"What? No! Harry, please!" she practically begged him. He shook his head so that his curls flopped around.

"Valerie, I've never liked a person as much as I've liked you. And that's why I need to leave. It's for your safety." he told her. Tears started welling in Valerie's eyes, but she took a deep breath and held them in.

"Harry..." her voice cracked. "If you leave me, I don't know what I'll do. I'm safe around you. I'll be fine." she tried to convince him. Once again, he shook his head.

"Valerie, this is hurting me as much as it's hurting you. But if you get hurt because of me, I won't be able to live with myself." he wiped a tear that was dangling at the corner of his eye. "I'm sorry, Val. But this is...goodbye." at that, Valerie couldn't help herself. Tears started streaming down her face. Harry reached forward, and gently brushed them away with his ice cold hand. "Don't cry, Val. It only makes it harder." he said softly. He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small box. "This is the present we tried to give you last night." Valerie examined the box; half of the blue wrapping paper was torn and the other half still remained neatly wrapped. Harry gently tore off the remaining wrapping paper, and pulled out a tiny silver box. He opened it, and carefully pulled out a necklace. Valerie let out a small gasp as she got a good view of the necklace. It was a silver outline of a heart...but this was no ordinary heard. The letters: 'V' and 'H' entwined to make a single heart pendant. It was simply beautiful. Harry held it in his hands, as he made his way behind Valerie, moving her dark locks aside, and putting the necklace around her neck. He stood in front of her again, admiring the necklace. Harry stepped forward, so that their noses were touching.

"So you'll never forget me." he whispered. He planted a soft, gentle kiss on her forehead, and slowly drew back. "Goodbye." and with that, he jumped out of the open window.

The next few days were miserable. Valerie would sit alone at lunch, while being watched by Harry's siblings, who had promised their brother that they'd protect Valerie. She would walk home everyday, alone, and sit in her room and cry her eyes out.

Her dad was starting to worry about her. Everyday, when he'd say goodmorning, she'd respond with: "What makes it so good?" or "There's nothing good without Harry." Harry made her happy, and without him, she felt that life was a waste. She didn't know what she did before she met him. She was hoplessly, and unconditionally in love with Harry Styles.
