Valerie bustled through the door of her house and threw her backpack onto the floor.

"How was school?" asked her dad, adjusting the magazine he was reading. Valerie thought back to Harry, and their conversation, and quickly pushed it to the back of her mind.

"Fine." she lied.

"Er... Make any friends?" he asked awkwardly, he wasn't used to this, he usually let Valerie's mom make th small talk. But ever since they divorced, he was in charge of the talking.

"Yeah." Valerie picked her backpack up from the floor and slung it over her back again. "Hey dad, I'm gonna go see Sam..." Sam was her best friend. He was the only person she knew when she came here. They used to hang out together all the time when they were younger, and Valerie lived here. Then she moved, and they never talked again. Sam was the only person she had really talked to besides her dad since she moved back to London.

"Okay, be home for dinner." Valerie nodded and shuffled around her backpack to find her car keys. She pulled them out and pushed open the front door. She hopped in her car and drove off to Sam's house. Pretty much all of his cousins lived with him in his house, along with several uncles and aunts and of course his parents.... It was pretty jam-packed.

She pulled into Sam's driveway, but not before yelling, "Watch out!" to the several cousins running around the driveway. She flung open her car door and hopped out.

"Hey Val!" sounded Greg, Sam's older brother. "You better hurry, Sam's been talking about you ALL day!" That evoked laughs and whistles from most of the cousins running around the driveway. Valerie just smirked slightly.

"Very funny, Greg." said Sam from behind. His arms were folded. Greg turned around and faced Sam.

"Sorry, I forgot to tell you... Your girlfriend is here." he said, which caused more whistles from all around. Everyone was now forming a circle around Sam and Greg. They were both snickering a little. Sam jumped at him and locked him a chokehold, while Greg was laughing uncontrollably. Eventually Sam let go, and left about a dozen cousins howling with laughter. Greg patted his back and whispered, "Good luck, bro." Sam chuckled and walked over to Valerie.

"Hey frenchfry," he said, giving her a hug. Valerie smirked; Frenchfry was an old nickname of theirs from when they were little. She had no clue how it came about, but the name just stuck.

"Hey Sam." said Valerie. Sam motioned for her to follow him.

"Don't have to much fun, you two!" yelled Greg from behind them. Valerie and Sam both smirked.

"No promises!" called back Sam, laughing. This was an old joke that Greg always pulled out, and Sam and Valerie just played along. It actually got quite funny. They kept walking past the driveway, and through the yard, which was full as usual.

"Where are we going?" asked Valerie.

"Somewhere besides here..." said Sam, pushing through his cousins. Eventually they ended up chilling in the treehouse in Sam's yard. No one ever went up in the treehouse, so they were safe. Valerie climbed through the trap door and looked around admiringly.

"This place has really changed since the last time I was up here." she stated, gazing at all the posters mounted on the walls. Sam grabbed a six-pack of Coke from the corner and tore off two cans. He tossed one to Valerie. "Thanks," she said, gulping down a mouthful of soda. "What's this?" she asked curiously, pulling a cardboard box to her.
