* To my friend Mae, this poem is inspired by our Talent Show together

Shining  on me, was this spotlight

I subtly shook with fright

This was really a bad idea

My humiliation creeping near

Why did I agree to this?

Right after, I’m sure to kill Liz

But my thoughts were interrupted

As sound of hand-clappings erupted

The music had began to play

Clearly my embarrassment is on the way

Then I realized…this is my chance

To show them I can sing and dance

Thinking, It’s alright, I’ll be fine

Simply closing my eyes

Losing myself to rhythms of the song

Allowing it to pull me along
