Right now it was tempting to just call him and ask him to make food for her. But she couldn't do that. He was at the park, he doesn't even have a phone for her to call. Nonetheless, she couldn't even see him today, otherwise something bad would happen.
Hiyori sighed and finished making her sandwich. Biting into it, it seemed rather bland. Something was missing but what was it?
Hiyori continued to chew until a sound could be heard from the window. "Meow..." Hiyori's heart sank as she looked at the window. A black cat was there staring at her. The same cat as before, the one she chased, the one she passed by, it was here.
Something bad must've happened. Panic rose through Hiyori's mind as she ran to put on her shoes and ran out the door. 'No way, no way' she repeated through her mind. She wasn't even at the park!
How could something bad happen? Images of Hibiya dying flashed through her mind making her run faster.
As she finally made it to the park, she saw an empty swingset. Where had he gone? Her worst fear came true as she turned her head to a crowd of people, gasping and in shock.
Hiyori ran to see the commotion, but it was obvious what layed there. Pushing through the crowd, she saw Hibiya laying on the floor with blood around him. That wasn't the only shocking scene, on his head layed what seemed like a branch, a big branch. It must've broken his entire skull.
How did this happen? A cry could be heard ,next to Hibiya, sat a little girl crying. Hiyori ran over to her and asked what had happened.
"H-he s-saved m-me..." She said inbetween sobs. Hiyori looked at his body and thought 'even if it wasn't me in danger you still protected someone else.'.
Hiyori then heard giggles from the little girl and looked very shocked as she turned her head towards the little girl.
That's when she realized the crowd of people were now still as statues. And the little girl revealed her face. It was a familiar face.
"You really thought staying home would work?" She asked half laughing and smiling.
Hiyori saw the red version of herself as a child. It looked exactly like she did when she was little. No wonder Hibiya saved her. He thought it was her.
"You! You killed him!" Hiyori yelled.
"I didn't kill him, you did!" She stated matter-of-factly. The tone made Hiyori sick. She wasn't here, no way was this her fault. But was it really? She was the one who killed Hibiya in the first place.
Maybe the red light was right. Hiyori is to blame for this. 'No, I'll save him' she thought.
"Shut up! Stop messing with me!" Hiyori snapped. This was to much. What was the right decision for her to make? If staying home wasn't it, then what was?
"Why me? Why him? Why us?" She continued to question as hope slowly faded out of Hiyori. The red light only smirked.
"Simple. You are simply being punished." She stated oh so maliciously. With the snap of her finger, her and Hiyori were back in the dark void.
Hiyori continued to look down, already knowing a clock would be smashed. "Punished? Why?" What was the reason?
The red light only snapped at her cluelessness. "You seriously don't get it?".
Hiyori was confused. Get what? Or perhaps she did get it. She just doesn't want to admit it. She stayed silent, hoping she wouldn't say what she feared.
"Unbelievable. This punishment is for your own foolishness," The red light spoke irritately, "you always took everything for granted!"
Hiyori flinched, she found truth in the Red Light's words. She did take everything for granted. Her parents always gave her what she wanted, she always assumed everything was just there for her. That it wouldn't be gone.
She was spoiled and the realization dawned upon her. Hibiya has been with her for as long as she can remember. Always bossing him around and hitting him.
He's always been by her ,even after after the abuse, was this why it hurt her so much when he dies? He's always been with her, the thought of him being gone just made her stomach twist.
She couldn't lose him, not after finally realizing how scary death can be. She won't fail him.
