The first night with Lennox was tough. My parents had to help me put her to sleep. She is still not used to me.
Right now, she was sleeping, so I prepared myself to see Cassie. She got home late last night, and she is on her way over. I haven't told her about Lennox yet.
I heard her car pull up in the drive. I checked on Lennox and went outside to meet her.
I opened her door and greeted her with a kiss, "hello, beautiful. I missed you."
When she stood, I turned her around and covered her eyes with my hands.
"Wade," she giggled. "What are you doing?"
"I have a surprise for you. Come on, walk."
............
We got inside, and I kept my hands over her eyes.
"Were are we going? Are we going upstairs? Wade Bentley, what are we doing?" She sounded a bit nervous.
"The surprise is right next door to my room, so just keep walking with me okay." I assured her.
"Okay," uncovering her eyes and turning her towards me. "Are you ready for this?"
"Wade, what is behind that door?" She was smiling, so I knew she wasn't mad.
"Just open the door." I gave her a little push to it.
"Okay," she hesitated. She was cute when she was nervous. Let's hope this goes as planned.
.................
Cassie's POV
I didn't know what he had behind this door, but I opened it anyway.
When I looked in, I saw a fully decorated baby nursery. In the crib, there was a sleeping baby. Lennox.
I turned to Wade, and he nodded for me to go on ahead and pick her up.
When I picked her up, I stopped to read her onesie.
It read: Will you go to prom with my daddy?
I gasped and turned to Wade. He held up some roses and walked towards me. When did he get those? When did he leave the room?
"Wade," I was beginning to cry. "What? How? When?"
He just looked at me and asked, "are you going to answer my daughter's question?"
I smiled. I held Lennox up and looked into her beautiful eyes. Eyes just like her daddy. "Yes, sweet pea. I will go to prom with your very sweet and handsome daddy."
He walked to me and wrapped his arms around us. He kissed my lips and held us close. This is how it is meant to be.
I pulled back. "Wait. I answered your question. Now answer mine. What is going on here? Why is Lennox here?"
"Come on," he said pulling my arm. "Let's go to my room, so we can sit and talk. I have some pretty good news concerning the custody arrangements."
I gasped. "I didn't miss court did I?"
He laughed. "No, sweetie. That is next Saturday."
I sighed. Good. That is good. But, what can he know about the custody arrangement then?
