"Hyung this is so embarrassing. Please uninstall your Twitter."
"Shut up and eat your sandwich Yoongi. It's on the house." Seokjin took the tray and went back inside the kitchen. He sidestepped a staff who was also carrying a tray with food, before heading back to the counter to help make coffee.
"I heard a latte," Seokjin muttered to the staff behind the counter, who was taking orders. "I'll cover it."
"Thanks."
The cafe was busier than usual, for some reason. Seokjin was around, saying compliments and sending wishes to groups of friends, people who were there for business, stressed out kids in college, middle-aged people, and anyone from the people spectrum.
At the end of his shift, he was again, the only one left behind. He did his usual rounds and finally left the shop once he was sure he had locked everything.
He heard muffled music coming from Yoongi's studio-slash-bedroom when he arrived at their shared apartment. He was quite exhausted, to be honest.
He was too tired to eat dinner. It was past eleven anyway, only a few minutes until midnight. Eating dinner didn't matter. Seokjin washed up immediately and dived in to his bed.
-
"Thank you for joining us here. Enjoy the rest of your date," Seokjin greeted to a couple who was leaving, who left with fingers intertwined.
The music was barely audible, but RM's Always was being played, and Seokjin could hear it as if the musician was standing next to him. The thought was in his head for a moment before heading back towards the counter and smiling at the first person in line.
"Hello. May I take your order?" He asked with a friendly voice he had perfected overtime.
That was the same question he kept on asking. Then it would be followed by, "what is your name?" to write on the cup.
Again.
And again.
And again.
And again.
The music was soon replaced by classical music, which most of the college students preferred. The sweets in the horizontal transparent fridge was almost empty. Sighing, Seokjin left the counter, making sure there were no customers in line, and asked his not-so-busy staff to take care of the customers on the counter.
"Chocolate cake!" Someone had shouted inside the kitchen. "Anyone wanna help me out here?"
"Me, me," Seokjin volunteered, as he washed his hands by the sink nearby. "Anyone else? Anyone who isn't busy — thanks Ken — "
At the end of the shift, Seokjin was alone as he checked every single spot of the shop carefully. He did his usual route home, the one with the garbage bins at the back door, and arrived home to a busy Yoongi, writing song lyrics in his little green notebook.
No word was needed to be spoken. Seokjin collapsed on the bed and slept.
-
Seokjin was breathing heavily when he just ended the day's shift.
His hands were placed on a table, his head hung low, and sweat was dripping from himself entirely. Usually, he was more patient and less tired after a day's work, but today seemed to not favour him that much.
No one else was left in the cafe, so Seokjin was more free when it came to expressing his exhaustion. The pay day was getting sooner than expected and Seokjin hadn't prepared the salary for everyone yet.
He took deep breaths.
And counted one to three.
Seokjin's route back to the apartment seemed to be longer than usual, but that's just him. He passed by the usual garbage bins by the back door, and headed straight to the stairs, walking to the empty hallway.
The door next to their apartment suddenly opened, and their neighbor, a University student named Jeongguk, had stepped out, with a textbook on his hand.
They never really interacted properly before, but Seokjin managed to greet him. "Hi."
"Hello, hyung."
"We're neighbors and I believe we hadn't properly spoken to each other. I'm Seokjin."
"Jeongguk," he introduced politely. "So, you must be tired from handling the cafe?"
It was both surprising and not surprising — the fact that Jeongguk knew his work. The elder nodded. "What about you? Where are you headed off to in the middle of the night?"
"I have to see a friend. Take care, hyung."
