sometime on monday!

Weeks had passed since Farkle came to terms with his crush on Carter. The bubbling in his chest every day became harder and harder to stop. In truth, he was at fault for it. It was all the little things he couldn't stop himself from showing his cards to the table. Farkle had started waiting with Carter at the corner until her father picked her up, and when the group was going to Topanga's he'd make sure to walk right alongside her.

If he was too scared to admit he cared for her through words, Farkle realized it was a matter of time before his feelings were exposed through his actions. Today was no different. On the board read the words "Current Events."

Carter had finished thanking Farkle for picking up her favorite pen after it fell on the floor. Carter was too busy reading to notice much that went on around her.

"Thanks, Farkle," Carter said, distracted.

She always flashed him her bright, perfect smile at him, even when he was too caught up in her books.

Farkle felt his face flush. He nodded before turning around as Mr. Matthews began the lesson.

"Current events," Mr. Matthews announced. "Somebody tell me what's going on in the world."

Maya groaned out in annoyance. "Stuff happened in some country. Some team won a game, and a cold summer with a chance of I don't care! Am I all caught up?"

The topic pulled Carter's nose from her book. She stored it away in her backpack, effectively intrigued by the lesson.

"Yeah, your education is complete." Mr. Matthews replied sarcastically. "Anybody who's gonna turn out we'll have something to say?"

Carter's hand shot up. Mr. Matthews had already called on Lucas.

"All the news is about the elections," Lucas answered.

"So are all the commercials!" Farkle added.

"Why should we care about the elections when we don't get to vote?" Riley chimed in.

"Who else feels that way?" Mr. Matthews asked.

Everyone besides Carter raised their hand. She recalled all the times her father insisted she care very much about the elections. As any good businessman in New York City, political literacy was important. Whenever he had a puzzle of a case, Aspen would caught Carter up on any current events at the dinner table before bringing her in for strategy.
