"Kookie, I can't just--" I stammered as I looked around my room. Then when I glanced back at Jungkook he smiled hugely like he realized something and then abruptly cut the call.
"What the. . .?" I said, a bit annoyed. I crashed back onto my bed, putting my phone under my pillow. As soon as I closed my eyes, sleep attacked me.
At 8 AM both my parents walked into my room.
"Jae-mi, your eomma and I are going rock climbing," appa said, a big grin on his face. I frowned at them, I honestly couldn't care less about what my parents did during the day, they always went out; usually for at least ten hours.
Every year, when summer vacation came for Yoongi oppa and I, my parents would take me and my brother some place new every week. Then when my brother turned 14, he would lock himself up in his room and work on music or whatever. So then it was just me, but that got boring quickly, and plus I entered my teen years. They were always out doing something together for a full day, at least 3 times a week.
"Okay? Why are you telling me." I stated. Eomma placed a hand on my covers.
"We were wondering if you wanted to join? It's been ages since you came travelling with u---" I touched my mom's hand and smiled sarcastically.
"No, eomma, thanks for the offer, but I need my sleep," and with that I turned around so my back was facing them. I knew they would be upset at my rudeness, but I was on 5 hours of sleep and during the school year, that was nothing, but in summer?!
"Okay," my mom said in a small voice, "well, there's jajangmyeon in the top shelf of the fridge, don't forget to eat,"
I listened as they walked out slowly and closed my door. I sighed and clicked my tongue.
I turned over onto my back, contemplating whether it was worth getting out of bed to satisfy my sudden urge to go to the bathroom, while listening to the jingle of keys, the opening of the garage and my parents' car starting and driving away.
The image of Jungkook's odd smile on the phone earlier this morning popped into my brain.
"What was he thinking about?" I said out loud, thinking about the way he had bit his bottom lip. I shuddered.
I woke up fully, an hour later, went to the bathroom and got dressed.
The doorbell rang. I gave my reflection in the sink a quizzical look as I put my phone down and headed to the door.
My breath hitched. Jungkook was standing there in a black hoodie and jeans, a baseball cap over his head.
I opened the door and ushered him inside urgently, worried that he would be spotted.
"Jungkook-ah! What are you doing here?!" I asked in a hushed tone.
Jungkook looked at me. Well, rather, stared, at me.
"I," he started, squeezing his eyes shut. "I, uh, bogoshipeunde," he said quickly. I looked to my feet, a blush creeping up my neck.
"Oh," I managed to squeak out. When I looked back at him, his face was etched with concern. "I, uh, I missed you too. . ." my voice drifted and Jungkook's muscles tensed.
We looked at each other. He swallowed and took a step closer to me. I instinctively leaned back, but not enough for him to notice. I bit my lip and tried to avoid his eyes. My stomach was churning and my heart was beating a million miles per second. I tried to move but my feet were rooted in place.
All of a sudden Jungkook placed his hands on my face. My hands were on the bends of his elbows. He stroked my cheek with his thumb. I glanced from his face to his lips to the sides and my eyelids were fluttering so fast. Heat was rushing through my body.
Then I thought of the articles. Of how they bad mouthed BTS for keeping "side-chicks", and "secrets". I thought of how they would bad mouth my brother and my family and me. I finally came out from my trance. I pulled away from him. His eyes immediately filled with pain, he clenched his hands in fists by his sides.
My stomach did a thousand flips and my heart felt dead.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, unfamiliar tears forming in my eyes.
"Aish!" Jungkook called out. He threw a hand up. "Ande! No, I'm sorry," he said. I choked.
"What!? Why?!" I said as he turned around, his hands on his head.
"I, I thought, I don't know, I didn't, I wasn't thinking, I just, maybe you--" he stuttered, his voice filled with sadness.
The same rush and ripple of realization that I had felt at the airport came over me. I realized that at that moment, in my home, where there weren't any reporters, or any crazed, psycho fans, I realized, that I didn't care.
I grabbed Jungkook's arm, turned him around, put my hands on his neck, stood on my tiptoes and kissed him.
