Basically this song is explains Tyler's view of the music industry. He thinks that it is too profit-oriented and that he just wants to play his music the way he likes.

The Song is about Tyler's and Josh's struggle fighting back everyone's ideas and opinions for the band. They always had to prove that they will be successful with their diverse and special style and with the line "but will they be alive tomorrow?" they want to express the sepsis of the other's success.
With the lane and the highway, he wants to express that the music nowadays is all very basic and uniform and that no one strays from the "lane" and follows the direction they are supposed to follow.
Him singing "but I know a thing or two about pain and darkness | if it wasn't for this music I don't know how I would have fought this" is referring to his struggles and pain  in the past and that he wants his music to be therapeutic and cathartic to the fans.
"Regardless, all these songs I'm hearing are so heartless
Don't trust a perfect person and don't trust a song that’s flawless" He puts this in the song to say that despite his want to help people through his music and wanting to do his music in his own way, here he is saying that all of the stuff other say is 'popular' and 'safe' are meaningless anyways, and the songs he puts out might not be perfect to people but its honest, and true.
" Honest, There's a few songs on this record that feel common
I'm in constant confrontation with what I want and what is poppin'" Here Tyler is saying that he is aware that some of these songs on blurryface are more common sounding, and he is kind of saying that while being constantly nagged about playing it safe, and living in constant fear of whether or not he will be successful and whether or not people will like his stuff//be impacted(he talks about this sometimes in interviews)
"In the industry it seems to me that singles on the radio are currency
My creativity's only free when I'm playing shows" here he is obviously saying that he looks at most artists and finds that music has all become about writing things to get the most money, and finding what will get the most likes and everything of that nature. and he feels that's he can only be creative while playing live to his fans because they're all there for the same reason, because they love music and what it does for them.
