"I don't know what I'm more afraid of: to see you again or to never see you again."

6 years later
Rosaline felt ashamed. She was 20 now and still her affinity had not been discovered. She had tried everything, but everytime she ended up being incapable of doing something. Her parents and probably the entire kingdom of Light was disappointed in her. The kingdom of Dark made fun of her and everyone tried to stay away from her on the academy. The only friends she had were Kymme and Brileigh. Both girls had come to the palace six years ago after her brother's soulmate and their sister had been abducted and their parents brutally murdered. But both were not at the academy. One's affinity was only accessible when 16 and they were yet to turn sixteen in a couple of weeks. Even that was not a guarantee that they would join the academy. Their last name was not Valois-Burgundy for nothing. The family of Valois-Burgundy could access their gifts without training. Simpler said they did not need to join the academy. Not only that, but where every other person had no idea what their affinity would be, their family did from a very young age. Every man had the affinity of warfare and every woman had the affinity of healing. They were the only family with the affinity of healing, even the witches of Dark couldn't manage it. And her brother, Absalon, was still hopelessly looking for his other half, Adelina, who had been stolen. A war had erupted out of this, which made the tension in the academy rise very high for both Light and Dark studied in the same place, and they were probably needed at the front to heal their soldiers. So Rosaline thought they would not come, but she did not know what was happening at court of course.
Today however no one was bullying her. The Queen of Dark had died today. All the Dark students were wearing back and not the regular school uniform. Although Light had nothing to so with it, they were respectful for their loss. No, there would be no bullying today, but there certainly would be failed attempts of her.
Kymme was sitting cross legged opposite from her twin sister. She was watching Brileigh's face intently as she read Rosalina's letter aloud.
Dear Brileigh and Kymme,
I hope this letter finds you well and you both are having a pleasant time at the palace.
As you both may have heard, I am a failure for yet another week. And I really do wonder why you both still allow me to be your friend. Of course I am not ungrateful, but surely no one would wish to be acquainted with a failure. I am quite certain everyone else is wondering the same thing.
