Saving a Life

Kaya's P.O.V

When we got back to Lexa, Octavia and I took watch. We stood outside in guard. 

"I saw what you did back there," Octavia told me.

"What?"

"You caught my brother before he fell onto the ground," She told me. I glanced over at her. 

"He was going to fall," I shrugged.

"You still love him. I can see it," Octavia told me. I looked at her again before looking back out.

The next day, Octavia and I were spying on some of the member of the Ark. We were behind a log as we spied on them.

"Pike's detail is still at it. Soil and water samples," I said into the earpiece. 

"Any idea what they're up to?" Dad asked me.

"No, but considering how heavily they're armed, I don't think they want anyone to find out," I told him.

"Crap," Octavia said. 

"What is it?" I asked, turning around. 

"There's a Grounder kid. Hang on," She told me.

"Kaya, what's going on?" Dad asked me.

"There's a Grounder kid," I told him.

"Hello there," I heard Monty's mom say," Don't be scared."

"We can't let him go. He'll tell his people he saw us."

"Kaya, please respond," Dad said. I ignored him.

"Hannah!"

The little boy started to run away. 

"Fan out, with me!" I heard. Octavia and I started to run after them to keep the kid safe.

"Kaya, you there?"

"They're going after the kid. We're trying to cut them off," I tell my dad.

Octavia and I caught up to him. She pulled him to her before covering his mouth and pulling him by a tree. I hid as well to listen what they had to say.

"We lost him."

"Double back towards the river. He can't have gotten far."

I heard Octavia hiss a little making me wince a little. I continued to wait until I heard Hannah leave. I went to Octavia who had a burn mark on her forehead. 

"You're welcome," She mumbled. 

"Dad?" I said. 

"I'm here. You okay?" Dad asked me. 

"You need to find out what Pike is up to. Right now. Whatever it is, they were willing to kill a kid to keep it quiet," I told him. 

"We're on it. You stay safe," Dad said. 

"You too," I told him before running off with Octavia.
