~~~~Steve's Memory~~~~
It had been a very long day already and it was only 1047 hours. I had gotten up at 0600 that morning so that I could get one of my workouts in that day. It was one of the only times I feel like I can think to myself. I was working on the punching bag in my sweats and a white tee shirt. Going through my memory of before I went into the ice. I remembered Peggy, Bucky, and all of my friends/teammates. Then when I told Peggy I had to put it in the water. Then I punched the bag as hard as I could to let out my frustration of me hitting the water, that punch sent the bag flying. I was done for the moment after that. I picked up the broken punching bag and threw it over my shoulder and brought it to the trash shoot in the corner of the room, then dropped it in there. I then walked out and got some food from the kitchen. Tony then walked in and saw me sitting there eating my cereal.
"How's your morning been old man?" Tony directed at me. "JARVIS told me that you broke another punching bag." I just looked at him.
"Well what do you want from me? I just seem to break stuff." I told him
"Well dude, if you would cool it just a little you wouldn't really be going through 2-6 bags a day." I just put my stuff in the sink and left. I didn't want to deal with Tony right now, so I left the tower and decided to walk through Brooklyn to see what has changed since I left 73 years ago. It has been such a long time since I've walked through Brooklyn. I was gone for 2 years in the army and in training camp. Then I frozen for 70 years. Then when I finally got out and was set free from my icy encasement, it took me a year to get used to this brand new world. To finally feel like I could maybe even fit in.
I was standing in the elevator heading down to the private garage that Tony had, so that I could get my Harley-Davidson Street 750 Motorcycle. Then all of a sudden the elevator stopped at the 4th floor.
"Captain Rogers," JARVIS's robotic voice came through the speaker in the elevator. "Mr. Stark wishes to know where you are heading."
"JARVIS tell Stark I will see him later." I told JARVIS.
"Mr. Stark doesn't appreciate that answer. He wants to know where you are going." JARVIS said. I could tell Tony was mad but I didn't care he'll get over it.
"Just tell him, I'm just going out to get some fresh air and see if there is anything left of the city I once remembered." I explained to JARVIS. "Now JARVIS let the elevator continue its path to the garage." With that the elevator started moving downward again. I waited till the doors opened in the garage before I got out. Then I walked over to my Harley hopped onto it and reached my hands under the back fender and grabbed my keys.
I love to take my bike out on random adventures just to feel the wind fly past me and the power beneath me. It made me feel as if I was in the 1920's again......back in my time, so that I didn't feel so much like a man out of time.
I was racing through the streets of New York. I was just on Lafayette Street heading southbound, and I just hung a left onto the Brooklyn bridge entrance. I was driving over the East River and it looked a beautiful as ever. Once I reached the other side of the river it was like I was just on auto pilot driving back through the winding roads. I remembered and slightly recognized the neighborhood I grew up in. I parked my bike a little ways away from my old home. I got off my bike and start to walk the streets I used to know.
There were little boys running around pretending to be superheroes. I see one boy run past me and he caught my eye, he smiled at me when he noticed I was starring. I smiled back, but he was carrying a trash can lid. On it was painted a red and white ring and in the very middle was a white star. That made me smile. I continued to walk observing all of the kids boys and girls alike. They were playing tag, hide and seek, and even pretending to be the Avengers. I continued to walk past and the apartments turned into houses. I continued to walk toward my own place then I spotted my old house that I used to live in. I was getting closer and closer to the house.
