Sebastian felt the warm breeeze against his skin as soon as he left his car. He waited for a few more minutes before checking his watch once again and crossing his arms in front of his chest. Not long after that, the bell rang and he smiled tenderly as he saw the wave of children coming out of the Elementary School's front door.
There were already another parents waiting for their kids, he waved and smiled at some familiars faces that he got to know through the year. The classic yellow school's buses were already parked in the street, it was a steady flow he got used to see every once in while. But this time of the year it was one of his favorites. Last day of school wich means that he would spent all the summer with his little girl, that's what he agreed with her mother right after their divorce. His smile grew wider when he saw his daughter running towards him with open arms.
"Daddy! Daddy!" she called, jumping on his arms.
"Hey sweetheart! I missed you so much!" He held her tight in his arms, lifting her on the air.
"Me too, daddy!" she kept her arms around his neck as he sppined her around and she couldn't stop laughing.
"Wow you're too heavy! What are you eating here, Maddie?" he asked playfully, putting her back on the ground, pretending to have hurt his back.
"I think, I'm growing up and you're getting old, papa!" she giggled and Sebastian looked back at his five years old daughter. Her tiny hands were on each side of his face, caressing his cheeks now covered with a beard.
"Oh is that so?? But I still can do this!" He said and started to tickle her sides.
"No! No! Stop daddy!" she tried to stop him, holding his hands. Sebastian picked her up again and walked towards his car.
"Dad, I want ice cream. Please, can we have one. Please?" Madison looked at him with her bright blue eyes, the ones he never couldn't resist and she knew it very well. She was smart. He put her on the chair in the back seat, wraping the seat belt around her body.
"Lunch first, Maddie. You know the rules." He stated and she frowed, rubbing her eyes. She was about to cry, he knew it.
"Okay, fine. Just don't tell your mother when you're back, please." He said and she smiled instantly.
"Yay!"
Sebastian drove to the first ice cream shop he could find, meanwhile she mumbled a song that she probably learned in school and he couldn't help but laugh at her attempt to sing the words right. She was growing up really fast, he thought.
He parked in front of the shop and helped Maddie to get out, holding her hand and walking inside until she he ran towards one of the tables climbing on one of the chairs.
"What flavor do you want, sweetie?"
"Chocolate and vanilla. Also blueberries too, they're my favorites." she said and Sebastian nodded.
"I'll see what I can do. Stay here okay?" he kissed her forehead before ordering her ice cream and a cup of coffee for him.
After Maddie tried almost all the flavors avaiable in the shop, they headed to his apartament. He carried her backpack and the bag that his ex wife prepared with everything that she would need while her time with him. When they left the elevator, the little girl ran to the door, jumping in excitement.
"Open the door daddy!" she smiled.
"I'm trying sweetheart, I'm trying" He put the bag on the floor, searching for the keys on his pocket. When he looked back to open the door, she was gone.
"Maddie, where are you?" Sebastian looked around, when he heard his daughter's giggle coming from across the hall. She was sitting on the floor, playing with a puppy.
"Madison! I'm so sorry! She just vanished while I was grabbing the keys" Sebastian apologize.
You looked towards him with a smile on your lips, realizing that you still didn't have time to actually know your neighbors.
"That's fine! Don't worry! I guess Bobby here liked her too" You said and smiled politely. "I’m (Y/N) by the way" you said, giving your hand for him to shake it, and Sebastian did it. "Sebastian" he smiled back at you. "And this little one here it's my daughter, Madison" he continued.
"He's so cute daddy! Can we have one? Please? Pretty please?" she looked up at him with those yes. Again.
"We'll have to talk to your mother first" he said and she held the puppy, drying a tear from her eye.
"Hey Maddie! You can come and play with Bobby anytime you want. How's that sound?" you knelt and talked to her.
"That's great. Thank you, Miss (Y/N)" she smiled. "You're very welcome" caressing her cheek.
"Thank you, (Y/N)" Sebastian said and you shook your head. "It's fine, really. Bobby likes to make new friends too, right?" the dog barked and Maddie laughed while Bobby was licking her cheek.
"Did you move in recentely right? I remember that was this really weird dude who lived here" Sebastian pointed out and you nodded.
"Yes, I moved in last week. I'm still setting things down, today it's my first day off so I went out for a walk in the park" you chuckled.
"Oh right." he smiled and looked down at his daughter.
You took your time to take him in, he was wearing dark jeans and a gray shirt with a blue bomber jacket. His brown hair was cut not too short and a beard completed the whole look. You shook your head slightly, feeling embaressed to think about how good he looks, a guy you just met and know nothing about. What if he's married? He has a daughter so there's probably another woman in his life right? But you can't deny that he's really atractive. Your thoughts were interupted by him calling for his daughter.
"Hey sweetheart, you need to take a shower and have lunch. Let's get going" Sebastian said, grabbing her hand. She protested, but stood up beside him. Bobby barked, shaking his tail again.
"He's saying bye" you gestured to the puppy and the little girl smiled widely, pushing her brown locks from her face.
"Bye Bobby! Bye Miss (Y/N)" she waved at you and Sebastian gave you one last smile before walking back to his apartment.
