Summer break was over and Maddie needed to go back to school. You helped with everything you could but of course she missed her mother. Every night she would come to Sebastian's bedroom to sleep with the two of you. It broke your heart to see her suffering but there was nothing you could do. Only time can make things better.
You were almost finishing another day at work when your phone rang. It was a text from Sebastian.
"Hey! What about dinner tonight? Maddie will stay with my parents" you smiled reading his text. You loved Maddie with all your heart but you missed to spend more time with Sebastian. Just the two of you.
"Of course! I'm almost leaving the office. See you soon :)" you answered.
As soon as you arrived home, you took a quick shower before heading to Sebastian's apartment. He was in the kitchen, finishing dinner.
"What is that? It’s smelling really good!" you said and hugged him from behind.
"Meatballs" he smiled giving you a peck on the lips. "It's almost done. Make yourself home"
Dinner was great and it was nice to spend some time just the two of you but you felt like he was distant, Sebastian was too quiet and you could tell that something was going on. After helping him cleaning up the kitchen, you both sat on the couch.
"(Y/N)... There's something I need to tell you" he started.
"I knew something was bothering you. Just tell me wha I can do" you smiled, kissing his shoulder.
"I'm sorry... I-I don't think this is working anymore. I mean, you and I" he confessed.
"What? Why are you saying that?" you asked. He avoided to look at you, his gaze fixed on the floor instead.
"There's so much going on right now and I have to put Maddie first. I can't be the man you deserve, not right now. We barely spend time together lately and I know you're amazing and you deserve someone better than me"
"I don't want someone else, I want you! Please don't do this, Sebastian. Don't give up on us." you begged. He finally looked at you and all you could see on his eyes were sadness.
"I need time to adjust my life, (Y/N). It’s not about you, it's me. I'm a huge mess right now"
"Well, you didn’t need to make dinner to break up with me. You should've just say it right away" you said, your voice coming out bitter than you wanted. "I love you and Maddie. I just wanted to be by your side but you choose to shuting me out of your lives" you did your best not to cry.
"I'm sorry, (Y/N)"
"That's all you're going to say? That you're sorry?" you stood up.
"I can't give you anything more right now"
You didn't say anything else before leaving his place and walking back to your apartment.
