Keeping Sane

The End of the semester approached and lectures began to round up. Workload also became heavier. Everybody had their burdens to bear as they tried their best to submit assignments on time. Ada and Femi acted normal around everybody even Salim. Nobody knew about what happened between them. Though Bella was positive that some people with sharp eyes knew.

Bella kept her mouth mum and worked with Ada. She kept being nice to Femi. She didn't want to let him suspect that she knew about what happened between them. Later, Ada told her that Femi knew that she knew. That didn't bother Bella. She rarely talked to him. Both of them did not have any business with each other. But because he kept his distance from Ada, Bella felt better towards him. Maybe he really is a respectable gentleman, she thought.

Ada and Bella kept it a secret from Wisdom. They didn't want him to worry about it. Life continued for the three friends. Eventually, work caught up with wisdom and he decided to pass over the year because he was busy. Ada and Bella got worried about him because he skipped classes most times. But they knew his job was more important so they supported him in every way they could.

Wisdom later got into a conflict with a lecturer who flung his laptop before an exam. The laptop got shattered and the class demanded that the lecturer repair the laptop. It was a complex case as a lecturer can never admit being wrong. Especially in a Nigerian institution. Nothing being done, wisdom unhappily had to let the case go and solve it by himself. Bella and Ada felt really bad for him. They were also angry. But nothing could be done.

Bella got admission into the program she applied for while Ada quit her part-time job to face school fully. Salim, who didn't know anything about Ada and Femi's involvement continued to propose to Ada who still vehemently turned him down. They became good friends but who knows, good friends might still be anything. Ever sharp Bella keeps an eye out for her friend, making sure the sharks don't get her. And making sure she does not get hurt by bad boys.

Life might lead you to the rocks, but true friends survive.
