"Girl you look rough." Tamia commented as soon as I walked through the doors of my mother's house

" Don't even start." I sighed.

Yesterday was my 5th time having a nightmare this week and I was honestly getting tired of it. I wanted it to stop, considering the large noticeable bags under my eyes.

" The hell wrong with you?" My mother asked from the couch.

" Don't wanna talk about it."

" Come on na girl, you engaged now. You should be happy instead of walking round sad." My dad added as he sat right next to my mom.

By the looks of it, they were back together like nothing happened.

Lord knows I hated their relationship mood swings.

" Me being engaged don't got sh-"

" CURSE! I dear you." My mother threatened.

I sighed, " I mean, me being engaged doesn't have anything to do with me being upset."

I went and sat down on the sofa next to Tamia, while our parents sat on the opposite.

" So, I know y'all might be wondering why I invited y'all over." My dad announced.

" Actually mom invited us over, but proceed ...." Tamia smart mouthed.

" Tamia..." My mom called out, giving Tamia 'the eye' in which I hated.

" My bad..." She mumbled.

" But anyways, I just wanted to let y'all in on some good news and some b-"

" Bad news..." My mother added.

Me and Tania both looked at eachother with faces of confusion.

" So what y'all want? Bad news or good news first?" My dad asked.

" Give us bad news first." I mumbled.

Tamia nodded, indicating that she was agreeing.

" Alright so," My mom said as she clapped her two hands together.

" So as you all may know, I been doing good these past couple months and its almost been a year now that I've been cancer free." She smiled.

" Don't like where this is going." Tamia added, sitting up in her seat.

" I been going to the doctor, taking my medication and once again m-"

" Please don't say it." I stated.

" My cancer back."

" Awwh fuck." Tamia swore.

" Lil girl watch yo mouf." My dad warned.

I sighed along with shaking my head.
"But I thought that it couldn't come back." I spoke up.

It seemed like, no matter how hard my mom fought, the cancer still managed to find its way back.
