"But mom please!" I pleaded between a mouth full of Cheerios.
"Darling, I know your nervous but everything will be alright."
"But mom I don't think it will be."
I am going to visit my aunt in Florida. Not only do I have to take a stinky bus but I have to go alone! What if something happens to me? What if I get on the wrong bus? For crying out loud I'm only 13.
"Trust me, it will." My mom said calmly before she left the kitchen.
I simply sighed and shoved another spoon full of Cheerios in my mouth.
I'm leaving today. I've been begging my mom for a week to let me stay. She keeps insisting that I'm just nervous. I'm not nervous. I'm scared out of my mind! What if some old man tries to sit with me? Or even worse, a druggie. Uhhg, I just don't want to go.
"Are you almost done your breakfast? It's almost time to get going." My dad said as he came in and placed the newspaper and his coffee mug on the counter. He never eats breakfast with me or mom. He always sits in the living room reading the newspaper alone and if anyone tries to join him he leaves.
I nod and go to my room to get my stuff. I give myself one last long look in the mirror. My dark shoulder-length hair was perfectly straight and my new mascara made my chocolate brown eyes look huge. I stared down at my outfit. I was wearing a grey hoodie that had my schools name on the front and dark blue jean shorts that had a few studs. For shoes I grabbed a pair of toms and slid them on.
"Hurry up!" My dad yelled from the front door.
"Coming." I answered quickly before grabbing my bag and phone.
"Do you have my bus ticket?" I asked my dad as he held open the door for me.
"Right here." He patted his pocket.
The ride to the bus station was quiet. I just stared out the window at passing cars and buildings.
Once we arrived my dad and I exchanged goodbyes as he have me my ticket. I pulled my bag out of the back and rolled it behind me into the brick building. It was the only real bus station for miles so it was pretty big.
I was gonna sit down to wait for my bus to arrive but the seats looked gross so I just stood by the door that would open to my bus.
Once it arrived, I gave my bag to the bus driver so he could put it in the storage area and I took a seat on the bus. I sat in the middle area by the window. The front was crowded with old people and the back was full of greasy looking people. So I sat in the middle. There wasn't many other people in the middle actually. Not yet at least.
