I took a big yawn as I sat up in my bed. My actual bed. Like my bed at home.
I quickly got up and looked around. This was my room.
I smiled to myself. That must have been a dream, an awful dream.
I started my day as usual. I made my bed, chose my outfit, went to brush my teeth, then got dressed. I went downstairs for breakfast. I didn't smell anything do we were probably just having cereal.
"Morning" I yawned as I walked into the kitchen. There was no one here. That's weird. They might just be in the living room.
I got myself a bowl and filled it with Cheerios and milk. I was about half done when I heard the front door slam.
"Mom? Dad?"
There was no answer.
I got off my stool and went to the living room. No one was there.
"Hello?" I called as I searched the house for my parents. They weren't here. Their car was in the drive way. Where could they have gone to?
"Missing something?" a voice came from behind me.
I turned to see no other than Reese standing there.
I just stood with my mouth wide. I wanted to scream, I tried to, but I couldn't.
He laughed softly, "They're gone for good. I made sure of that."
I shot up from the cot. Every part of my body was shaking and sweat soaked my hairline.
It was a dream. I had a dream that I woke up from a nightmare, which turned into a nightmare, and now I actually woke up into the nightmare that is reality.
"Bad sleep?" I heard a familiar voice from beside me.
I looked over to see Reese sitting with a smirk on his face.
"What did you do to me?" I stuttered.
"What do you mean?" He came back.
"I mean what was in that burger that did this to me?" I snapped.
"Oh that," he smiled, "You don't need to know."
His smile looked sly. You could imagine him as a drug dealer in one of those movies with that smirk. His eyes though. They looked young and innocent, like a puppy. You just wanted to snuggle him and tell him how cute he was but then there was his smirk.
"Do you need anything?" he interrupted my thoughts.
I shook my head no.
He nodded and got up to leave.
"Why am I here?" I blurted out.
He stopped and looked over his shoulder, "Why not?"
"Really, just tell me." I pleaded.
"Somebody wants you." he said flatly then slammed the door.
Somebody wants me? But, who would want me? I'm not good for anything. I didn't do anything.
I looked at the wall. It was pale green. All the walls were a pale green. They used to be red. This room has a nice carpet, a portrait of some guy, and a real bed with blankets and pillows.
Now I know why he drugged me.
