"Patton?"

"Yeah."

"Nice."

Patton, who the pair had known since third grade, laughed incredibly often. It was no surprise that Logan had found out very early on they were soulmates. When color filled his vision, he jumped, but didn't outwardly react in any other way. He knew the laugh that had caused it, and he flushed a light pink color at seeing the boy.

Boy. His stomach turned. His parents had always told him when he met a nice girl and heard her laugh, he'd see color. They never told him it could be a boy. He quickly raised his hand, calling over the teacher. He asked to talk to her privately. The teacher, Mrs. Aberforth, also happened to be Virgil's mother. Usually, Logan would ask Virgil to ask his mom. She's a teacher, she knows everything, right? However, Virgil was sick, so that option was off the table.

"Can my soulmate be a boy?" Logan asked, getting right to the point. Jue looked shocked at the question, and then let out a soft laugh. "Of course they can be! My soulmate is a girl, so anything is possible." Logan sighed in relief, until she asked what brought on the question. "Um.." Logan fiddled with his shirt hem, refusing to look the older woman in the eyes. " 'Cause I... 'cause he laughed, and um....."

She smiled, rubbing Logan's back softly. "Don't feel any pressure to tell him. He'll find out eventually. A soulmate is someone who is always going to be in your life no matter what. If you have any questions, let me know."

"Logan... Looooogaaaan. Lo!" Logan jumped, realizing Virgil was talking to him. He was so in the moment, thinking about every small detail, he didn't notice. "Sorry, I was thinking abou-"

"Patton's here."

"Oh no."
