He didn't hear the tapping of the other's shoes over his own, and he didn't notice the other approaching behind him as he opened the fridge. The taller male's hands reached out, and he grabbed Virgil by the hips, getting a squeak from the smaller. Virgil whipped around, clocking his attacker in the jaw- and immediately regretted it.
Roman stood in front of him, now holding his jaw as tears formed in his eyes. "Alright- Yeah, I deserved that." He'd admit, but Virgil still had a pang of guilt in his chest. "Oh my God, okay. One, don't fucking sneak up on me like that. Two, are you okay?" Virgil would put his hand on Roman's, concern the only evident feature in his light gray eyes.
"Yes. Well, no, it's probably going to swell and bruise, but I'll be alright." He'd say, giving a soft, gentle giggle. Virgil sighed in relief, resting his forehead on Roman's chest on pure instinct. "Seriously. Don't sneak up on me like that again." He said, this time a soft, but still genuine, giggle escaped his lips. He felt Roman gasp as his chest rose sharply, and his own pale cheeks flushed bright red upon realizing what must have just happened.
Virgil felt so many different things at once- fear, excitement... all of them combined lead up to one thing; anxiety. He was anxious. He and Roman had gotten along better after Virgil found out they were soulmates- he'd lessened up on the teasing after, something Roman questioned a few times only when it started. But he knew that Roman hadn't known all these years. And he was scared Roman would find out that he knew, and didn't tell him, and then Roman would hate him, and then-
"Virgil..?" The smaller male, who had apparently been shaking the whole time, was abruptly knocked out of his thoughts."Yeah..?"
"I think you're my soulmate."
