It seemed ridiculous to her that there was only one day out of three hundred and sixty five to celebrate him. Unfair, even. In fact, in her eyes, there wasn't enough time to honor Cole and all he was. But alas, the world gave him August 4, and she was going to make the most of that day.

The sun shone through their bedroom window, awaking Lili from her slumber. She looked towards her sleeping boyfriend. He looked so peaceful. So beautiful. She slipped out of bed, careful not to wake him. Clothed in his tee shirt, she began preparing his favorite breakfast. It was unusual for her to cook, especially this early, but she'd promised herself she would make his birthday the best it had ever been.

She didn't notice him standing in the kitchen. Cole stood quietly, admiring his stunning girlfriend struggling to make an omelet. He could do it all day, watch her. She moved so gracefully, as if she'd shatter at any moment. She really was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen, it was so easy to become captivated by her beauty. Finally, he let out a chuckle, completely amused by Lili's efforts. She turned around, they're eyes meeting, saying everything they couldn't put into words.

"Happy birthday, my love." she said softly, making her way into his arms.

"Thank you, baby." Cole whispered into her hair.

"I have a surprise!" Lili exclaimed halfway through breakfast.

"You do?" he chuckled.

She nodded and pulled an envelope out from behind her. Cole smiled and carefully tore the paper, eager to find out what awaited.

Inside was a slip of paper that read:

"To the love of my life,

Happy birthday, Cole. There's nothing I could say or give that would be worthy of who and what you are, but I hope you love this as much as I love you. Here's to us, and most importantly, here's to you.

Love, Lils"

"Guess where we're going?" she asked, pulling yet another two slips of paper from behind her.

"Where?"

"Costa Rica," she said softly, handing him two plane tickets, "I know you've always wanted to go but never got to. And I found the most amazing resort to stay at."

"Lili." he whispered, a crack in his voice. He wasn't typically the one to cry. Hell, he rarely showed emotion until she came along and began showing him what love really was.

Love was waking up early to cook him breakfast on his birthday. Love was staying up late with him when he needed her most. Love was posting something for his birthday when she knew how much attention it would bring. Love was taking him on an amazing trip, one on his bucket list. Love was her. Everything about her. Everything about them.

"You deserve all of this and more." she promised, moving to sit in his lap.

She planted a kiss on his lips as he wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Maybe," he said softly, "But the one thing I don't deserve is you."

"Happy birthday, Cole," she responded, tears in her eyes, "I love you infinitely."
