*Aqua's POV*
Dear Dad (His Majesty King Destin Okeah VI),
I have successfully survived an entire week at this idiosyncratic school, and I have been having an absolutely wonderful time. The faculty is absolutely wonderful. I have never had teachers who were so talented in teaching for their respective classes. For example, Tomoe and Kou teach dimensional manipulation and mathamancy. Of course, I am not in those classes seeing as I am just a human, but I have my ways of learning.
A few days into the weak, the Mermaid Sickness struck me with no mercy. I had to practically drag myself to class until I met an old friend who helped me with the nausea with a seaweed smoothie. Another friend also charmed a bracelet of mine to help with the nausea. I found it funny because he charmed the same bracelet that you gifted to me after you broke my very first flute. It's funny how your gifts continue to help me even on land.
On Saturday I was able to finally meet my Aunt Arabella, and I see now what you mean about her looking nothing like Mom. Her eyes were so dark, as was her hair. I actually got to sit down with her and her husband (which I threw against the wall – long story short he made me mad) and have a chat with her. I could tell that she was sorry about missing all of my life up until now, but I'm still a little sour. I still have a lot of forgiving to do.
I feel like for the short amount of time that I have been at this academy, I have been able to learn a side of mom that you could never describe. Like I learned that Mom and Aunt Arabella would often play pranks on each other in their childhood home on land (which WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THAT SHE LIVED ON LAND FOR ALMOST A CENTURY OF HER LIFE!!!). I also learned that mom would often play her violin on street corners for some human money so that she could buy bread and give it to the homeless. Mom was just that kindhearted! But probably the most shocking fact that I learned was that Mom was friends with Tomoe and Kou! They are quite heartless as teachers, even telling their students that they will, "...make their lives a living hell." From talking to them one on one, they were kind and respectful, so I can see why she was friends with them.
I really miss you Dad, and I love you
Love,
Aqua Okeah
I folded up the letter and put my royal seal on it before burning it to send to the castle where a servant of my father would pick it up and bring it to him immediately. The royal seal was usually only used for extremely important messages, but Dad made me promise to use it for letters.
I quickly made my way down to breakfast still in my baby blue and white striped pajamas which consisted of just a tank top and shorts. It wasn't anything too showy, and it was just a Sunday so there was no need to dirty an outfit. And I had my wallet with my ID and freshly cleaned water bottle for my smoothie.
I hazily walked over to the table with Kal and Tyrus who's hair was no longer a metallic rose gold, but now a light lavender. It fit him, but I still liked the rose gold more. I just felt like it suited his personality better than the lavender, but change is good.
"Good morning lovely! We missed you yesterday!" Tyrus said as he pulled me into a side hug. "Kal over here was dreadfully boring without you. All he kept saying was Aqua this and Aqua that! And I couldn't get away from it either! We went back to our dorm and just kept talking and talking about-" Kalen quickly covered Tyrus's mouth, and I was still too tired to care. I had woken up about an hour earlier than usual to write Dad a letter.
"You two dorm together? Lucky! I'm stuck dorming Her Royal Pain in the Ass." I rolled my eyes just thinking about how rude she has been to me despite me even trying to help her. I don't get her deal with humans, but it's starting to piss me off.
"At least you have a Jack and Jill room with her since she's a royal. All royals have those types of rooms with their roommate, which is why Kal and I aren't living in a tiny cube together." Tyrus said and it rose a red flag in my head. If they had one of the fancy rooms, then that would mean one of them is a royal, correct?
I pulled my ID out of my wallet and said, "So which one of you is the royal?"
There was an awkward amount of silence until Tyrus said, "Oh sorry, uh, yeah I'm technically the royal, I guess?" He said as if he was questioning himself, but he quickly clarified, "I mean I am Her Majesty Astrid Fae of the Fairy Kingdom number one adviser and confidant, so I suppose she pulled her little fairy strings to get me a nice room. I mean I'm not the type of boy who deals well in small spaces. Even in my room in the castle, I have the entire west wing to myself and my own set of staff."
I was immediately intrigued by Tyrus's true story and wanted to question him on it, but the server came to our table and said, "So what would you three like today."
"Can I have the Mermaid Smoothie please with a Belgian waffle with whip cream, like a lot of it, actually just give me the whole can." I said, and I could Tyrus laughing.
Tyrus ordered next, "Hi, can I have the crepes with that hazelnut spread, Nutella, and a glass of almond milk please. Oh and I would like a side of cut strawberries."
Lastly there was Kalen who just ordered eggs and bacon, like he has for the past week. Each day I became more and more grossed out by his breakfast choice and hoped he doesn't order it the next day. Each day he still ordered it.
Our food came out soon enough and Tyrus and I decided to cut our food in half and give each other their half, so I had half a Belgian waffle and half a crepe. I respectfully doused the two foods in whip cream and right as I was about to grab my fork to dig in, Tyrus put his hand behind my hand and pushed my head into my plate full of food.
My initial reaction to the fact that I got a face full of whip cream was denial. I started laughing because I couldn't believe that it actually happened, but then it sunk it. Literally. I could feel the cream sinking into my skin, and out of pure anger, I grabbed his glass of almond milk and poured it on his head. Then we both looked at each other and then at Kal and then back to each other. Kai grabbed an empty bowl and I filled it with whip cream, then I walked behind Kalen and slid the bowl filled with whip cream in front of him. Tyrus said that his eyes widened right before I pushed his face into the cream.
We all decided on a truce, and I saw Professor looking at us. Panic ran through me and I whispered in Tyrus's ear, "Professor Vladimir is staring at us. I wish that this table and the three of us looked like how it did before we got into our little food fight."
"You're wish is my command, Lovely." He smiled and snapped his fingers, sending his now lavender magic across our little table and reversing it to its original state. The three of us immediately went back to eating as Professor Vladimir made his way towards our table.
"Is everything alright here?" He asked.
Kalen came to the rescue and said, "Yes, thank you for asking Sir. Tyrus and Aqua were having an argument on how to help the human world, and it got very heated seeing as Aqua is a human. That's why there's so much whip cream on Aqua's waffle. The more heated she got, the more she added." He said so smoothly.
"Oh okay. I just wanted to see what all the commotion was about. And Aqua?"
"Yes, Professor?" I could feel a bead of sweat running down my neck.
"You should really lay off the whip cream in the morning. It's not very good for your human body to ingest so much sugar." He said and walked away. I just took a giant gulp of my smoothie and let out a giant sigh of relief. Kalen was an actual genius.
