Long Goodbyes

Chapter 10

Cam pats little Tay on the back, who was now 11 years old.

"Ready to go see Mom?" Cam asks.

Taylor nods, climbing into the car.

"Dad, why is mom all the way across town?" He asked, fumbling with his fingers.

Cams face drops and he thinks for a second.

"That's where she has to live for now."

It's only about 10 minutes until they arrive.

Tay climbs out, taking Cams hand.

"Why do I never get to see mommy anymore? It's not fair."

"I know bud.." Cam whispers, walking down the long path.

He see's Jess and Matt, a smile spreading across his lips.

"Right over here son."

Cam sits on the cold bench, Tay sitting on the ground below.

"Hi mommy!" Taylor says.

Jess doesn't respond.

"I wish you'd come back home Jess. We really miss you over there." Cam says, leaning back.

Taylor plays with pieces of grass, throwing them into the air.

"I saw Tay- big Taylor the other day. He misses you. You haven't been around for almost 9 years. It's not fair to us."

The chilly wind causes Cam to shiver.

"Ever since you left, Nash has had to do the cooking. And you know how he cooks. Havent you noticed I lost weight?"

He can hear Jess's giggle, causing him to grin.

"And you, Matt. We really want you to come back. It's weird not having all 9-8 of the boys around .. There's no point.. No ones happy anymore."

Matt doesn't respond..

"Want to say anything to mommy?" Cam asks, looking from Taylor to Jess.

He knew neither her or Matt would say a word.

They never do.

"Love ya mom!" Tay says, jumping up.

Cam takes his hand, turning back to Jess and Matt one more time.

"I just wish you guys could come home with us.. ." He whispers, touching both of the graves with his free hand.
