LOL HALF A YEAR LATER - I'm so sorry!
Warning: I've edited a few things in chapters SIX through to TEN, so if anything is confusing then that is why. Please reread them to prevent any confusion.
R E C A P :
"Hi," Marinette speaks rather shyly. "I'm Marinette."
"Such a lovely name." Anna sighs longingly, keeping her eyes trained to the pairs locked hands. "Such a lovely couple."
"C-Couple?!" Marinette stammers, suddenly realising that she is holding Adrien Agreste's hand. The boy looks down at her and she stares at his face, watching as her mind rearranges his hair to make him look like Chat. Her blush leaves her face as the image of Chat Noir stands before her and she calms her breathing, replacing it with a raised eyebrow to match Adrien's expression towards her. It was at that moment that Marinette realised that this was going to be a long day.
E L E V E N :
As the two teenage heroes sat upon a seat looking out onto the calm Parisian lake, Marinette's heart was racing. The fact that the boy she was completely and utterly in love with, was also the goofy cat that annoyed her with stupid puns, was crazy to her. Although the more she thought about it, she did love Chat. Maybe not the way he would want her to, but she did. He was her partner. Her best friend, even. They spent almost every day together, and although it wasn't a significant amount of time, it was something significant that they'd do together. Saving the civilians of Paris was a rush, and having him by her side was pure bliss in her eyes. He made her super heroine alter ego whole. He felt the exact same way.
"Marinette?" Adrien's voice filled the still air between them and the hairs on the ravenette's arm stood up. Adrien took notice of this. She gulped. "I'm sorry that everything turned out this way."
She squeezed her eyes shut, her head dropping slightly. They'd finished their ice creams long ago, the small piece of paper towel she'd been given to keep her hands clean now scrunched up in her lap. She'd been trying to keep her mind off everything, off the whole situation, but when her subconscious in the form of a red kwami was no longer there to keep her head straight, well... Marinette didn't realise how much of an anchor Tikki had become to her until this moment. The small red entity kept her heart at bay and her mind at ease. But now? At this very second? Marinette's heart was going absolutely crazy. Especially after that comment about her and Adrien being a couple.
"Are you OK? You're very quiet there." Adrien pipes up again, resting a hand on her shoulder. She flinches and his frown deepens greatly. "Mari, I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say."
"It's fine, I'm fine. I just need to keep my mind busy, and you're kind of not helping at the moment." She admits sheepishly. She didn't want to hurt him, despite how much he hurt her. He took notice of this.
"Would you like me to take you home?" He asks softly, easing off her a bit. He removes his hand from her shoulder. She shakes her head no, and Adrien tilts his head in confusion. "What do you want to do then?"
"I would like to sit here in silence for a moment, if you don't mind." And they both go quiet. Marinette feels Plagg squirm in her jacket. She almost forgot he was even in there. She gently pokes him over the fabric, making sure not to hurt him. He flies out almost immediately.
"What's the big deal?" He groans, floating in front of the two teenagers. "I'm hungry."
"Me too." Adrien chimes in. Marinette looks at him with a raised eyebrow.
She smiles a bit at his food-desiring face. "We just ate ice cream."
"I'm a growing boy." He defends himself, both hands flying into the hair as if he were being held at gun point.
"Yeah and I'm a growing kwami," Plagg deadpans. "Can we get cheese?" Marinette's eyes fixate on the floating cat and she shakes her head to herself, chuckling.
Finally, Adrien thinks to himself. She's laughing. Marinette stands up, holding her hand out to the blonde boy instinctively. He grabs ahold of her hand and stands up, and she almost instantly turns bright red as she realises what just happened. She could double as her kwami with the colour she's turned. She settles herself down once she hears Plagg groan.
"There's nothing more we can do until Master Fu gets my miraculous fixed, after all, so I suppose we should occupy our time accordingly rather than sitting on a lake bench all day." Marinette admits.
"Maybe we can take this time to get to know each other further?" Adrien tries, asking cautiously. She looks up at him with a peachy blush gracing her cheeks. He finds it utterly adorable, and his mind goes into override at that moment. It's her voice that pulls him out.
"Sure."
A/N: it's a short one but I'm easing back into writing. Honest to god, I had SUCH bad writers block but I'm bACkK! Hopefully nobody's left :((
