chapter twelve (real life)

i jump onto the bed ben is laying on.

"yes?" he laughs, looking at me.

"gotta tell you something," i reply. "actually, i'll show you."

i hand him my phone, with my messages from jonah.

ben takes my phone, reading the texts.

he finishes reading, giving me my phone back.

"do you?" ben whispers.

"do i what?" i reply.

"do you still love jonah?" he asks, looking away from me.

"ben. look at me," i say.

he slowly turns his head, his eyes meeting mine.

"i don't. i don't love jonah. you don't have to worry, okay? that's all in the past. i've moved on. i moved on a long time ago. i've found another guy."

i smile at the end.

"i'm hoping that you're talking about me," ben says quietly, causing me to chuckle.

"yes, love, i'm talking about you."

ben smiles, cuddling up close to me.

i kiss him on the cheek.

"you know, you're pretty okay," ben says.

i scoff, hitting him on the arm playfully.

"rude," i reply.
