"chloe?" tessa asks.

it's been a month and a half since tour ended.

it's been two weeks since ben and i broke up.

he explained it all, why he wanted to break up.

he said he still cares for me a lot, but he hated feeling like i was still in love with jonah, and he didn't want me to break his heart and leave him to be back with jonah.

tessa and i are back home.

"mmm," i respond.

"come on, you have to get out of the house. let's go do something with the boys. they wanna hang out with us," tessa suggests.

"you go, i'm gonna stay here."

"chloe. come on. you have to leave the house."

***

"hey boys," tessa smiles.

tessa convinced me, after half an hour, to get myself up and ready to meet the boys.

the seven of us start walking through the grove.

i walk behind the others, not really wanting to talk considering i didn't want to come.

"hey chloe," jack says, walking next to me.

"hey," i reply, but not looking at him.

"i was thinking, that we could go off on our own? just you and i. we don't have to talk about ben, hell we don't have to talk at all. i just thought you might be interested," jack suggests.

i look up at him, meeting his eyes for the first time.

"i would really like that."

jack smiles.

he quickly walks up to corbyn, and whispers something in his ear.

i see corbyn nod, then jack walks back to me.

the others continue walking, while we go down a different street full of stores.

the thing with jack is, throughout my entire friendship with him and the boys, he was the one who i confided in the most, and the same goes for him. the two of us are insanely close.

"you wanna get some coffee? i kinda feel like talking. about stuff," i say.

jack looks at me, smiling.

"yeah, totally," he replies.

we find a starbucks and go in, order our coffee, then find a bench outside.

"so, how are you?" jack asks.

"you know, i'm gonna be honest. not that great. it's been a rough couple of weeks. i'm so glad to have tessa with me, but i haven't really talked about it with her, and i feel kind of bad because she's my best friend," i start.

"i don't think you should feel bad. if you don't want to talk about it, you shouldn't have to until you're ready," jack replies.

"yeah, i guess."

i take a pause to think, taking a sip of my iced coffee.

"it honestly came as a surprise. i had no idea. i mean, i knew ben had this constant worry in the back of his head that i was still in love with jonah, but i would always tell him i wasn't. i didn't think he would breakup with me because of it."

"i'm sorry that it went down like that."

"yeah, i don't know. i guess i should have seen it coming. but i think i'm pretty much over him. i just needed some time. and just talking about it with you has really helped. i think i just need to take some time to myself. really focus on my channel and my music."

"i think that's a really good idea."

"it will help me a lot, i think."

"what are you going to tell jonah?" jack asks.

"what do you mean?" i reply.

"we both know he's going to ask what happened eventually. are you going to tell him the real reason you and ben broke up?"

"yeah, i will. i can't keep something like this from him."

***

"hey tessa?" i ask, putting my laptop down.

"yeah?" tessa replies.

"i was wondering if you want to have a girls night? we could order some pizza and spill some tea?"

tessa smiles.

"that would be awesome, chloe."
