"We need to get out of here." I said, trying not to sound scared. Freya nodded. "Right." We walked up to the door. Freya reached for the door knob with a shaky hand, suddenly the knob began jiggling violently, as if someone were on the other side desperately trying to get in. She shot her hand back and took a step back. I looked through the peephole to see... no way. That can't be, it's not real! It was the thing from my "nightmare".
"Holy shit," I whispered. "What is it?" "I-it's the creature I saw in this room when I couldn't move." She stared at me, her mouth dropped. She shook her head. "No, this isn't happening, this isn't happening, this isn't happening, it's not real, I'm dreaming!" I wished she was right.
I looked through the peephole again, to find the thing gone. "Freya we've gotta get out of this room," She got up and walked towards the door next to me. I grabbed the door knob and turned it. I opened it to see a empty hallway. The same as it was when we had first come. We stepped out cautiously. No one was here, it was empty and silent, like stepping into a soundproof room.
We walked down the quiet corridor, our footsteps echoing loudly, all I could hear was the sound of my rapid heartbeat beating in my ears and our cautious footsteps. I heard something scamper on all fours behind me, I whipped my head around, there was nothing. Trembling, I walked on. Suddenly, the lights started flickering at the far end of the corridor, it eventually turned out completely. Followed by the next light flickering then turning out, then the next one.. the lights were turning out one by one, and soon we would be left in darkness.
I heard something again, at the far end of the dark corridor, it seemed to run towards us, as it did, the lights turned off with it. We quickened our pace, breaking into a sprint, I knew whatever that thing was, it couldn't be good. At last, we reached the elevator and pressed the button, we waited, Freya desperately pressed the button repeatedly. Finally, the elevator opened up its doors, the thing was close to us. We rushed in and pressed the button. The thing ran towards us, just in the nick of time, it shut. We both breathed sighs of relief. "What is that thing?" Freya asked in a hushed tone, her voice quivering. I shook my head. "I don't know."
