(Y/N) gazed out onto the deep sapient trees. She sat wonderlessly on the wall, eyeing the guards who worked under Vochi defend the castle on lookout.

"hmpf"

She spat out the seed to the fruit she was eating. She enjoyed human food- at least when she had dragon blood in her system, just like any other ghoul would.

"Enjoying the luxury of eating normally?" Master Shioru sat beside her. He took out a small container, swallowing his doze of dragon blood as well "Pass me some please" (Y/N) complied, pulling one out of the plastic bag beside her and giving it to him.

". . .I wonder if they know about dragon blood" (Y/N) said tonelessly.

"Better if they didn't. Ghouls and humans would be indifferentiable to each other- imagine what damage Aogiri would do with such material"

"Yes, it'd be quite the problem. . .one more than we can handle at the moment"

"For now, the only fabrication of it is held under Uta's shop, if we seal off the area- like Uta just has, there'll be no other access to it" Master Shioru explained "or do you believe that isn't enough?"

(Y/N)'s hand would tremble if they could. Her heart would beat like an alarm bell, her tears roll from her face in panic and fear. But she just couldn't. . . .feel. . . anything

"We should pull the stockage over here and destroy the one under his mask shop. They know my latest movements and are advancing on Aokigahara, nothing will be safe for long unless we end the line of knowledge now"

Master Shioru hummed peacefully "And how do you plan on doing so?"

The great bell sounded itself, the talk of strategy was about to begin

"I'll figure something out"

They stood, walking back to the throne room. "You know, as Commander of Aokigahara, you'll have to come up with brilliant plans in a matter of seconds. Never expect your enemy to do what they think you calculate they'll do, and you'll see people are far more predictable than you originally thought"

He'd told her that once before, just avant the battle of Blackflowers, and yet she failed to do so, and lost one who mattered greatly to her.

"I try, Master, I really do" She started "But as of late I. . .just can't think correctly. It's like I know everything that needs to be done, but when I have to do it, my mind goes blank"

Master Shioru looked at her in great amusement "Was this before, or after you saw Ayato"

(Y/N) heartbeat doubled, she found herself glaring at her superior "What are you implying?" He shrugged "I am but your mentor (Y/N). I give you little pushes, but it is you who'll have to drive on your own road. It seems your sub-conscious doesn't want to kill someone so important in your early life. And God makes no mistakes (Y/N). Perhaps. . ." he said, glancing at her

"There is still hope of saving Ayato's fall"
